The J-mod is a great thing to do to the 4r70w....Ive done a few and the shfits are much snappier.

I did a J-Mod on my current transmission, and between that mod and the shift kit, the 1-2 shift was knocking my teeth loose. I'm going with the kit instructions this time. If the shifts are too soft, I can always go back in. Thanks for your comment.

Good move changing that rear main seal. With that many miles, its inevitable, and you know that if you don't do it, it'll start leaking just DAYS after you reinstall the tranny. At least, that's what MINE would do. Lol.

yeah, I called FEL-PRO and they said if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but being that deep into the truck, it needs to be done

Forgot to ask about if you decided on the pricey torque converter upgrade or not, custom torque converters always command a hefty price tag.

I ordered a unit from Precision Industries. Wow expensive! Should be the best out there. Custom built.

@@DrivingIntelligence yes it’s pricey don’t know if it’s worth the additional bucks! Still have a concern with the Forward clutch hub. Couldn’t find a new part for this only used! Kind of the weak link in mine. Let me know if you find something new on this part. Thanks

Generally all the sub-components for these trannies are used. The only new parts are build by SONNAX other than the smaller components like shift accumulators and the like.

Motorkote is the name you need to know if you want your lubed parts to last forever. Valvoline ,Lucas, mobile 1 are just standard oils compared to Mkote being a hyper lubricant that outperforms them 10X 100X depending on application.

I haven't looked in to it but does anybody offer any kind of shift kits for that transmission, I did one years ago on a C6 with excellent results but valve bodies are something I don't mess with because they can be quite tricky and easy to get it wrong not to mention no lift no transmission work for me, I've pulled a few transmissions on my back in wrecking yards and garage floors over the years and I'm at the age where i decided I'm never doing that again.

I had good luck with this shift kit in my current transmission: amzn.to/4dTNhsS I plan to add the same kit. Really firms up the shifts.
