Man, I'm glad you're running a standalone. Those 20+ year old ECUs are an absolute nightmare, they all end up with leaking capacitors and having weird intermittent issues.

I’m telling you dude, you’re gonna want some actual angle mods... some cut knuckles and extended LCAs will go SOOO far when it comes to drifting. Yes anyway can drift stock angle but it makes it way easier to drift a car with angle done to it. You can do the LCAs yourself easily and there are tons of companies that will mod your knuckles for super cheap. You don’t need wisefab or anything but seriously just do the simple stuff... you’ll thank me later lmao

He should hone his skills with stock angle first tho.. with angle mods it allows you to drift easier but it wont improve your skills as much as mastering stock angle first

@@jakegerwig8798 what?? Drifting stock angles suck. In no way does it improve your ability to drift a modded steering vehicle. In fact it usually hampers you because the vehicle's limits and characteristics have changed so you're unfamiliar to the vehicle again.

good to see the truck progressing. given the popularity of the 1UZ here in NZ (and Aussie) i wonder if you could have imported a factory harness that wasn't damaged and just gone down the original route of linking the two. but a nice new custom harness will be good ofc. nice Audrey moment 💗 love seeing you guys keeping it real.

I get wiring is crazy, but in 50 days this is all they got done? Looks like they started last week. Having done wiring before, I get it. But if the shop can dedicate 10 hours a week this should've been done mid December

@@b.roa2366 so if you took your car to the shop and dropped it off and asked how long it'll take, and they said in about 50 days we'll be half way done. You'd handover your keys? Having worked in a small shop that did high quality work even I know this is subpar. I'm assuming he dropped it off, forgot about it, called them last week and they were like, "oh shit" and got started then.

really an understatement... mapping out all those wires would have taken HOURRRSSS, no point in doing anything to the actual car till that step is actually done. i doubt gingium is paying them enough to make this their "main focus" so its probably just something they have been chipping away on when they get some downtime at the shop

The drift truck isn't the only thing in their shop though, and they've got other deadlines to meet. It won't have been their only focus in that time period.

@@alpinez28 oh like every other shop? Full frame off restorations can be done in less than 7 weeks. Why are you people trying to justify that they've literally accomplished mounting the ECU in 7 weeks

@@brandonharrington1422 Yes the 1UZ isn't super popular but at the end of the day it was made from the early to late 90s and was sold in the US. I just don't believe that they can't get at least SOME of the information from a manual. Mapping EVERY connector from scratch is just a waste of time. Idk there's certainly no more than 2 or 3 days of work on this thing IMO. Hope they don't charge him an arm and a leg, especially considering the exposure they get.

Best idea a complete loom I have done several spliced wire looms and regretted a couple of them, so good call. Me I prefer superchargers but that V8 could be a real screamer, with the ECU in the cab there is room for a blower each side of the engine and room for the plumbing between motor and radiator.

Their work is solid, take it from someone who has made a few harnesses. Make sure everything is fitted with dielectric grease, this being a drift truck a lot of crud (unless you encase the engine bottom) will make its way in places it wouldn't otherwise go into.

As much as a guy that doesn’t like the LS, you should have just put an LS in it would be simple it would have been done 3 months ago. I know you want different and I like different but that motor is just gonna bring difficulties when it comes to upgrades.

Part of the problem is it's also a vvti, people swap non vvtis a lot more often. You can even find harnesses already made. But they are quite easy to wire up. Soon as you bring in the vvti it makes it more complicated. Excited to see the final product! Love 1uzs lol
