"The first Salon is, what we call 'Intimate Marilyn' and that has to do with all Marilyn's lingerie, bathing suits, all of her cosmetics, and when I say all.. All that I have collected. The second salon is 'Glamorous Marilyn'. You will see all of the gowns, the jewelry; what I would call, the 'Bling of Marilyn'. Boy, there is a lot of bling in that particular salon. "

"The next salon is the 'Legacy of Marilyn'. And the legacy of Marilyn are certainly clothing items but it has to do with all of the things that are popular right now, from the Nobel wines, one of the most collectable out there are Marilyn Wine labels and these bottles, people absolutely love that type of stuff. There is the entire bread for plate collection in there. And then the last salon, is the Marilyn Doll collection. It is a beautiful display and it really contains every known doll ever made of Marilyn Monroe."

MONROE ON EXHIBIT
One of the largest collections of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia goes on display tonight (10 November 2005) on the legendary Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA., about 25 miles south of Los Angeles.
Most of " Marilyn Monroe: The Exhibit" features objects that were part of the iconic actress's life, from clothing to curlers to a certificate of marriage.
The exhibit is a combined effort of three organisations: the estate of Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn Monroe Exhibits, and CMG Worldwide, Inc.. Bob Otto, Chairman and CEO of Marilyn Monroe exhibits, told AP Television that the goal was to create an exhibition that tells the story of Marilyn Monroe that will reveal the impact of her as a legendary movie star, pop star, celebrity and international icon.

The set of Clairol hair rollers was discovered to have been manufactured after Marilyn passed away, and were removed from the exhibit. This somewhat compromises the credibility of the whole exhibit.

I thought so. I remember the commercial for those rollers. When they first came out. "Curlers in you hair! Shame on you " we used to say that to our mom because she always rolled her and put a scarf over them when she went out. And it was def after she died.

Yes i remember this exhibit when I worked at the Queen Mary. He even claimed that the hair left in the rollers was hers...

@@PRLambert63 That is disgraceful! I don't like the look of that guy at all, another parasite making money off Marilyn in death, as so many did in life. The collection of dolls and memorabilia (wine bottles with tacky Marilyn pictures on the labels?) is an absolute joke. Who wants to look at that crap?!

Why on earth would he include a collection of tacky Marilyn dolls that she herself never saw and had no idea about? And the assorted Marilyn tatt like wine bottles with her picture on, decorative plates etc - that's just crap! This exhibition has little credibility since it was proven the electric hair rollers were manufactured after her death, so could not have been hers! Seems this creepy man is exploiting Marilyn for money in death - just as she was exploited by creepy men all her life. Sad.

I think no other actresses ...even elizabeth taylor Or audry Hepburn nor vivian leigh..gain so much popularity upto this day...shes really the ultimate movie star ..shes phenomenal..in terms of beauty and popularity ..shes so iconic ..she was copied by all generations...😯🥳

A great collection by a man who took the time to collect her personal things, when in real life, sadly like all great and wonderful persons who died, might of disappear. Thankyou for showing this bit of the collection to us all:) Lets hope petty people do not make negative remarks, as its has truly a lot of real items from her life. This is awesome to me, thank you so much and good luck on your show case for 12 years:) Maybe you come to Australia one day too please:)

I'm not convinced that's genuine, now that we know some of this exhibit is faked. Seems funny to me that her husband gave her a clock with a clumsily worded inscription about 'helping you be on time' - when everyone knows Marilyn was late for everything. It smells of a faked item to me. Joe is no longer around to challenge its authenticity.

This 'exhibit' is from back in 2005. Proved to be a sham and closed down. No genuine items. Absolute disgrace, even displayed tattily. I have no idea why The Queen Mary would have agreed to it without doing their own authentications.

Tacky was the word that came to me over and over as I watched this. If this is meant to be a tribute to Marilyn, it is a very sad and poorly done reflection.

I've been interested in and have read about Marilyn and watched documentaries and interviews about her for over 40 years and I don't think Marilyn would have liked this exhibit. It seems inconsistent with her personality and priorities.
