Rob, I really am enjoying the music you're playing, I'm writing while listening, also I have read your description after listening your speech, I like the detail of putting the time when music starts, even though I really like knowing a little of the context about the things you're about to play, it's just because I try to figure what you thought when you decided to put that. Anyway, thanks for sharing this pieces, I like them a lot, greetings from Colombia.

Rob, you save my day everytime you let us folks participate with your thoughts, poems and music! Once more, I enjoyed your playing very much. I guess your mandolin book is my next uke-challenge after trying some movements of the bach suites (without reaching to your knees, though). The Buddha-like quote of your blues-book has become my Mantra, not only when playing: "Take it slow and easy. Don't push yourself too hard." It's simply THE KEY! My other favorites are: "440Htz is for suckers!" and "Don't let the bastards grind you down!". Sure as hell I'll shortly have them printed on my shirts in Remington Noiseless type. That got my motor running. A ukulele ,tuned like a viol or mandolin ,is getting my muse all hot and bothered. I’m finding myself obsessing over the idea of playing a mandolin piece called the “Dixie Rag” on fifth tuned ukulele. I’m just beginning to be able to breathe through my nose again after I had the new “cootie” in February. I’m suspecting that it leaves a lot of systemic micro damage that takes a while to get over. Hang in there. I’m just starting to perk up a little after four months. The stuff is not the flu and it’s no joke. It’s frustrating to feel so exhausted. Some kind of whole body exercise definitely helps.Good luck. I really like the black and white video. It evokes a comfortable dream like quality.

Rob, When playing the tenor uke tuned to fifths what is your general approach to which fingers own which frets? Having studied the video a few times I think you are favouring the mandolin fingering, but then at points you were using your pinky on the fifth fret. Are you effectively using a combination of the two? On a similar vein should a player like me coming from the mandolin, retain the accepted logic there that the fingers should be angled across the frets rather than parallel to them? Again it appears that generally you do this, but then you adopt the parallel method that guitarists/uke players might use at some other points. I suppose maybe an accomplished multi-instrumentalist like yourself can do that, but what is best for the uke beginner coming across from mandolin to the fifths tuned uke?
