Hey Everyone,
In today's video, we're going to show you how to how to install the re-designed M Seat badges. A few months ago, we made a video on how to replace seat emblems, as the ones that came on early model F80/F82 tend to crack. BMW does typically cover these under warranty, however, most of us are out of warranty and have to replace them ourselves. The original version contained a longer cable, which was direct plug and play, however, BMW has since revised the design, which makes them more difficult to install. In today's video, we'll walk you through the process.

For anyone who's going to do this, you'll need to pull the upholstery off the seat like he does in the first video to cut the cable tie otherwise you don't have enough cable to work with.

I need to do this replacement. I'm so glad I saw this video -- my dealer want to charge 6-8 hours labor to do the fix.

I did this fix. It's not easy. It certainly not a 6 to 8 hour job, but it's also not easy. There just isn't enough wire to work with.

Bryan, just bought a 2016 M3, still has the original silver seat badges. Do I have to remove the seat leather to change out the emblem (like the orignal video) or can I do what you just did here in this video?

Great video thanks. If you are replacing the original silver emblems can you use the same technique to remove emblem from front of seat and will you have enough wire with the original silver emblems to crimp from in front of seat?

So silly that they went to a shorter cable. I actually went out of my way to buy one that had photos of a longer cable on it and they still showed up with short cables. Not sure if there is a way to order the ones with long cables still. But I have to cut up some new M4 Logos to put in My M3 ones... Oh well, thanks for the vid! I will be doing this today!

Is there a physical difference between the two black m3 badges other than 1 of them having an extremely short wire ? If there isn't why not just buy the one with the long cable

so what you're saying is look for the cracked and nasty emblems to buy, because they'll be cheap but have the proper cable length. then follow this process to get some sparkly new ones on there

Those connectors and short wire new emblems are a PITA really! One side worked well the other really hard to get the small pins into the wires and connectors. Just sucked. Had to end up splicing the wires together and connecting using a butt connector to get them connected securely and a good contact. BMW just add long wire and ditch the pin adaptors and cut/splice. A 2cent plug adapter from wire end to seat connector would save time and a lot of headache!

Hi, i installed the m2c seats into my lci but the badges dont lighten... Can anybody tell me what i have to do to fix that problem? All other functions work fine. Thx

Likely it’s then pins and crimp part…no power or short exists. Hard to do correctly given side of clips and wire which is about 20-22 gauge. I just spliced bo5 new badge and old wire together as mine kept shorting no matter how secure I pushed the new clips into that connector..

Sooo what's the point of the upgrade vs. the other video? Is it just so you don't have to take the seat cover off? I've seen the other video and I guess they already make the black lights with the long cords sooo why would I buy the short ones and have to worry about electrical work?
