I really love the new Cairo scenery! It's one of those airports that have really been missing in the sim and it goes along very well with the PMDG 777 as Egyptair flies short, medium and long haul with it from its base at CAI. I can't wait for my next flight here! Thank you very much Taimodels for providing us with this scenery!

Good scenery. But unfortunately, they got the one thing that I think all cairo airport scenery makers always get wrong. There is a difference in elevation between both runways (05C/05R) and the terminal buildings/stands. There is like an upward slope at Taxiway Tango. Not only that, but there is also a difference in elevation between the airport and the city itself. Lastly, the tower colors are a bit off. Despite these points, the scenery remains highly detailed. I was particularly impressed by the interior of the terminal buildings! P.S. I travel to Cairo frequently, so I feel confident in commenting on the accuracy of the scenery

So the airspace on the east coast is so congested that it’s just impossible to have you still at altitude 150-200 miles out. You need to descend early to make room for all the other traffic flying along the east coast. We do the same thing here in the Midwest for Chicago. It’s definitely not just first come first serve though. We have traffic management initiatives all the time.

A lot of my sim flights are along the N.E. coast and I’m usually listening to live ATC while mirroring real world flights from gate to gate. To your point, ATC will usually add track miles in this region rather than put you in a holding pattern when they need spacing into the majors. Flying the D.C. - NYC routes, it’s common to remain below FL200, even though there’s time to get higher, and to fly vectors for half the flight (making it difficult for me to anticipate freqs.). The only way I can anticipate the vectors is to track the flights in front of me. On short routes, you often sit waiting for a release time and then as soon as you’re airborne, they slow you down or start vectoring. I often have to abandon the flight mirroring because I don’t have an extra 30 mins. or more to burn. The airspace is just too congested and weather delays are so common that airlines that are based there, like JetBlue based in NYC and Florida, suffer from poor on time performance through less fault of their own. On a side note, I love hearing you talk about your Florida flights. I had a flight from Tampa to Frankfurt about 2 weeks before you started your new job. Getting the chance to fly across the Atlantic with the guy who taught me so much about flight simming would be pretty cool someday.

I really like the new Cairo scenery. There are lots of detail. It's better than Asobo's scenery :D. When I fly to Cairo I fly with Egyptair. In the recent years they bought new aircraft like the 787, A320Neo und A321Neo which is really good.

the 777 is the only aircraft allowed over 250kts below 10,000 feet, at least in Egypt, i m not sure about the world.

The sound update is terrible. Where is that high pitch sound characteristic of the 777??? Why did they change the sound to the vacuum cleaner sound we had in FSX?? Does this mean that here at MSFS we will also have to install a 3rd party sound pack to replace the vacuum cleaner? And beta testers don't report this?

@A330Driver I figured out a way to eliminate the annoying white flickering on the engine fans when DLSS is used. If the variable is set to 1000 ( or a similar number ), in PMDG773ER_EX.xml - then it holds back the animation just enough for it to look visually correct without flicker at all RPM. I posted this in the forums as well.

Nice looking airport. Wish they would start making it standard to shut off interior terminal scenery. I dont personally go inside any sim airport, so the performance loss is a shame

The performance loss isn't that drastic in MSFS, the sim can handle these additional polygons impressively well! If I'd need to make a guess, I'd say it's maybe 1 or 2 frames at the maximum that you loose with a detailed interior.

Euroscope monitors the load in it's airspace, whereas in the US, it is first come first served, that's the difference.

Definitely not first come first serve. Listen to some live ATC online in these areas and you’ll get a pretty good feel for flow restrictions in place.

You mentioned the Ground Power showing Air Start Inhibit. I’m encountering that at the end of most of my flights and wondered if it’s a PMDG bug. I either have to click Request immediately after applying the chocks when it shows Available for about 1 or 2 secs. or wait till the engines are fully wound down (or just wait maybe?) when it will show as Available again.

Because you can fly the 777 in the style it's built to be flown and on the routes it really flies. If you only do short haul, you'll only see and feel the plane in a way real pilots rarely see it - if it all.

Anything I may or may not have advised them of would fall under NDA - however in this particular case, since they have commented on it in public already: Yes I did, their answer was that they are following one particular operators SOP with the TCAS and this operator leaves it on TARA continuously. They are not allowed to share which operator that is however.

I just purchased this airport and when i install it I have no option to click on it in the world map, like its not there. if I uninstall it and re install asobos premium it comes back. if I spawn at the nearest airport and can slew over to cairo and its there

Try to enter the ICAO code into the search bar of MSFS, then it should show up.
