@janay mickles. One technique that you are doing to perfect your silk press that you dont realize that you are doing.....is blow drying the hair on super wet hair (dripping wet) the water molecules get blowed dryed into the hair as a natural moisturizer. The hair is like GLASS once the water is blowed dryed into the hair. The flat iron will reveal the squeaky clean glass windows..... a perfect flat iron.

This is true and is good for coarse/low porosity hair. I’ve noticed this is why I can’t let my hair air dry or leave it overnight and try to come back and wet it with a spray bottle. The results are completely different when i don’t have thoroughly (not dripping) wet moisturized hair.

Thanks Janay! I started the year by taking my wig off. Trying to focus on growing my natural hair. This is so useful. I have one question. Is it to much to flat iron the hair once a week?

No problem! And I would do once a month. When it gets old just wear it in a pony/bun/or slick back until wash day. If you decide to do every week make sure you’re deep conditioning every time.

Clarifying shampoo dries my hair our even when i condition & add oils back… I noticed when doing my press at home my hair feels semi drying , i just got the babyliss flat iron, could it be that? I use 410 to 465 setting. & i dont press often. But i do 3 taps on the root & one whole pass , then a slight curl w the babyliss.

Thank you! I do about once a month or longer just depending on the style I’m wearing. For clients at least every 3 months for a good trim

Hey! It’s about the same. If you pre detangle/twist/braid and do the dryer for 2-3 min the blowdry time is shortened since the hair is mostly dry by then

Is the mizani thermasmooth shampoo discontinued? They dont have it on mizani website or Sephora store who carries their line. They now have a bottle called Agent press thermal smoothing. Is that the same?

It is discontinued. It is not the same. However, the Press Agent line is marketed for heat styling.

My hair reverts to poofy seconds after straightening it . I'm not sure what Ian doing wrong. I have tight curly 4c if you want to put a label. Deep condition, Shampoo twice , condition once, detangle, heat bio silk protectant , bio silk leave in , blow dry, bio silk heat protectant , flat iron on 430 .

Oooh Janay, I find that when a stylist blow dries my hair with a brush, my hair comes out super crunchy, but when my stylist uses the comb attachment, it comes out soft and pillowy. Do you find this to be the case? I see you use a brush to blow dry too.

Hey no that doesn’t happen when I blowdry. Maybe it’s a product she’s using, either method shouldn’t make your hair crunchy.

@@JanayMickles hmm, I’ve seen her use some kind of serum from Biosilk when she uses the brush. It’s a clear, kind of thick and sticky, heavily-fragranced liquid. Could this be the culprit? I have this serum too, and want to try blow drying my hair myself. But I don’t want the crunch. 🤧
