My Drone Cinematography MasterClass is FINISHED!
Hello FLYING CAMERA CREW! I take my DJI Mini 3 Pro & DJI Mini 2 drones on an adventure today to discuss an important deliberate practice that will greatly improve your cinematic drone footage over time. It seems counter intuitive….but by actually giving some guidelines (removing options) it forces you to become more creative within those guidelines. Professionals across all creative domains practice this very important discipline.

My third ever flight of a drone today nearly ended in disaster and a lost at sea mini 3 pro. It all went pear shaped really quickly. Long story but a series of errors saw it auto land itself in amongst boulders a little way from the water and sand and all other nasty things. Only damage was 3 propeller blades with roughed up edges that I will replace before the next flight. Oh and I also suffered a case of PTSD in a cafe an hour later when something in their kitchen started beeping which sounded exactly like the control unit when it was auto landing towards the ocean with critically low battery. Lots and lots of lessons learnt and experience gained.

Thanks Ted, the idea of a theme such as this is great. I am retired and live in the middle of England in a small town, surrounded by lovely countryside and I’m retired and I love to fly my drone so I’m constantly looking for themes or reasons to have great fun editing the footage. We have a small river, the river Anker, that runs through my town of Nuneaton, and a friend suggested that I document its course from the source to join the next river in Tamworth. It was great fun to do and certainly gave me an opportunity to look at features, that I didn’t even know were there. In the end, it took seven episodes to get the project finished, and I met some interesting people and found some fascinating locations. You certainly do spermium Ted. Keep the inspiration coming.

@TedNemeth 10 ай бұрын
Hey Chris. thinking in terms of bodies of work is very popular across all creative domains. It helps the artist stay focused and bring more depth to their study of the subject. Wow that sounded fancy. Maybe I’m too sober right now.
@summa0humma
@summa0humma 10 ай бұрын
Hi Ted, "too sober" is a state I prefer to avoid for protracted periods of time! Some lovely footage in this one...the low sun behind the barn ... shining along the converging wires in the vinyard. Those "balls of wool " moving around in the the field, keeping the drone movements minimal. My friend, you are a perfectionist and it shows. We sometimes get a glimpse of your leatherwork...superb!

This is a Great Channel! I love Ted! Ted is the best! This guy knows how to teach Video and Composition. And always has that exuberant enthusiasm. Yes! I am a retired professional also. And Ted really knows how to teach this stuff! I love his style. I love his composition. I love his videography and photography. It's gorgeous. A lot of creative drive goes into, this profession. The skies the limit! As you really can't take anything beyond the sky. The sky is so important in our photography and videography. I used to love using a 1/2 filter. To just change the color of the sky. That was fun to do. Or when I used, Kodak, Ektachrome Aero Infrared. Analog film back in the day. That was wild stuff! And we really don't have anything like that in video. Though most of the sensors are sensitive to infrared. It lets you see. All of those invisible, infrared remote controls flashing. Check it out! Because not only do they give you accurate color and exposures. They also see infrared. But not in the same way as that Ektachrome infrared film did. So some of that stuff can't be replaced if you want that look. And I'm not even certain that film is even made anymore? Or their high speed black-and-white infrared film? That was also wild film to use. You put a dark red filter on the camera. You couldn't even really see through. And you would get these unbelievable pictures! Of stuff you hadn't even seen. Back in the day. In the 1980s and 90s. When I was experimenting and shooting, with that film. I tried everything! From the slowest black-and-white to the highest speed color film. Today we do it all digitally. And there are many different types of, digital optical sensors. And they all look different. They all work different. They all provide different results. From MOS to, CCD. They are all remarkable sensors we have today. And the look, the resolution and the quality. Exceed expectations. They are just amazing today. I am smitten by what they can do. They are remarkable. And no burn in anymore. Unless, of course you aim them at the sun. And they'll go just as blind as you, in time. Because nothing really can survive the sun. It kills everything. It sanitizes, everything. It's pure energy. And it knows how to kill everything. When you get too close playing with that fire. And there are some things. We obviously are not supposed to know about. But people will die trying. To gain more knowledge and intelligence. Which stupid people do not do. They only need Fox news. Which isn't. Certainly, entertainment. It's not news. They don't do, news. They do, Entertainment. Fox is a movie company. Not a News Network. Like I used to work for called NBC. The real one. The American one. The first. The best. The original. And it is not fake. They are there to report ripoffs on the American people. By corrupt government officials. And dishonest CEOs. And there were only 3. They all worked in the same way. And arrived with similar results they reported upon. As they would investigate. They would corroborate. And they would verify. Fox just makes their own shit up. So do those other fowl, fly-by-night, bogus news operations. That want to bring you the truth. As they invent it. And it's not real. But they unfortunately are. I worked on, Capitol Hill, Washington, DC for nearly 40 years. And I know what's going on better than anyone. I was involved in a lot of investigative reports. And I know what's going on. And a takeover is occurring as I speak. That we have to, thwart and defeat. There is no other way. We are in a fight for our country. Because extremist crazies want to take it over! And install their Jesus. And that's what our Founding Fathers, split from. None of these freaks. Have bothered to read any of our Founding Fathers, Autobiographies. I have. And they were not into oppressive Christian religion. Ben Franklin said he was a Presbyterian. But he didn't believe in the fairytales in the Bible. And he was one of the most intelligent men in the USA. He discovered electricity. He was a genius. And my list stupid hillbilly redneck Americans have no intelligence. They are inbred. And this is what is happening. And we will be going extinct. Just like Neanderthal dead. Just like Cro Manion did. Just like Homo erectus, did. And stupid college professors still don't know why? I know why. It's stupid. Not to know why. And so when you think about it. There were far fewer Homo sapiens back then. They stayed in small groups. They bred within their groups. They inbred. They went stupid after too much inbreeding. They went dysfunctional. They could not care for their young. If they knew how to create any young? They didn't know how to eat. Unless somebody handed them food. Which was not commonly done. Back in prehistoric times. And so they languished and died. And they went extinct. As we are now doing, ourselves. But the numbers got bigger. But it's obvious. All of the different species of human beings across the planet. Still did not breed outside of their groups. Which is what we were supposed to do! To create a single uniform breed of Homo sapiens. Which no Homo sapiens have ever done. Just like the Neanderthal and those before them. As if we were still in very small groups. But we are not! We are in much larger groups. So the mathematics on the inbreeding. Takes a longer time to propagate into stupidity en masse. Which is what we are seeing now. And it is being talked about and discussed by college professors all over the world. Because we are starting to see a pattern of, declination. We are not getting better. We are getting, stupider. And everyone knows it. It's being discussed. There is a noticeable pattern. We are in deep trouble as a species. This is not going to get better. It's going to continue on to deteriorate. And we shall go extinct also. Through mass stupidity due to inbreeding. An IQ levels have gone substantially down. They are seeing a pattern. And I am a technical troubleshooter. That is also observing this. And I can see what's going on. I have the intelligence to know. This will not turn out well. So the least of our problems. Is a cop tapping you on the shoulder. For flying a battery-operated toy drone. Because you must be guilty of something? And this is what is happening. Everybody is guilty now until proven innocent in the USA. By a crazed extremist faction. That is righteous and godly! And has the religious right. To destroy Americans they don't like. No they fucking don't! And they are going to find out the hard way. That you don't go after other Americans. You don't like. Because that is un-American. They are not Americans. They are enemy combatants of the USA. They are enemies of our Federal Constitution. As they have proclaimed they are. They don't like our Federal Constitution. They think it's Bad. It's only bad. Because it keeps the unethical and dishonest in check. And they don't like that! They like to be dishonest! They are boys who like to cheat. And cheat, they do. Anyway they can. They are not ethical. They are not Americans. They are working to destroy the USA. And don't think they aren't. They hate our government. They think it should be a perfect utopia in their lack of mind. And so what planet are they from? The one we need to send them back to. That's which one. Mars? Venus? Maybe Jupiter? That's where they need to be sent. And Elon will help. Maybe Jeffrey Bozo will, also? They need to be sent to Mars. Let Donnie become dictator on Mars. The God of war. Let him live his TV show life. On another planet. Not here. His whole family deserves to go to Mars. That's where they need to be. That's where they need to stay. For all eternity to come. They don't need to breathe any air. They are not human. They can dig in the regolith and have fun. Maybe they might strike gold? And then maybe the gold will strike them back? We can only hope. I'm really hating Republicunt's these days. As they are trying to destroy my country in the USA. It's not good enough for them. And so they should leave. Just leave! Find a country that is more to your liking. Because you don't like the USA. Get out! Get out now! While you still can. While you are still alive. Because we are going to change that soon. Then we will get much better flying video. When you can't see any filthy Republicunt's anymore. RemyRAD

Another informative and entertaining episode Ted. I think that the biggest takeaways from your work are the small things we tend to overlook or take for granted and you point to them as consequential elements in the framing of the shot. When I fly anymore, I cannot escape the stream of questions... "Where is the sun or light source relative to my subject? How will putting it in front, behind or to the side change how my subject is perceived? How are angles, shadows and textures enhancing or detracting from the story I am trying to capture? To move or not to move? Where should I be positioned? High? Low? Where is my horizon? Perspective? etc..." I was never much of a photographer before I let your work convince me to buy my Mini 3, and now I can't stop looking at things without mentally framing a shot... Looking forward to seeing what bits and tips you will share from your upcoming trip across India.

I follow a sort of hybrid model of this. I set out without any preconceived imaging or idea but when I see it, I see it. Then I stop and go through pretty much this process, the hours fly by. If it's a really good location, It goes on the revisit list, to be re-seen under different conditions and time of day. I've been working this really special barn not far from my place all summer trying to get it right. Another pursuit on that list is a tall ship. I have filmed it twice ( footage in video on active track cinematic), lots of great clips but at this point out of respect, I don't get too close. Now, I have gone so far as to contact them and make them an offer of free promotional work in return for proximity flying/filming. They liked my youtube corpus enough to have taken the idea to the board, they have one session/voyage left this season...fingers crossed.

Hi Ted. Thank you for your videos, I get a lot of useful information from them. A quick question, off topic. I have a DJI mini 2 that I really have fun with and I'm slowly becoming more proficient at making some cool clips. On the down side, It's a bother to take my phone out of it's "breakproof" case to attach it to the RC controller. Is it possible to use a controller with a built-in monitor, like the one you use with your DJI mini 3?
@TedNemeth

hey Michael! I LOVE my Mini 2 and actually fly it more than my Mini 3. But I totally understand about the phone/controller. To answer your question….I’m not sure. Have not researched it. Man I tell ya…..That RC controller is really a pleasure, worth every penny. I love how bright it is and fast set up.

Limiting your choices, increases creativity. Oh how true! Right on! Yes as a retired, 50+ year, Audio-Video Production Professional. I started so early in life, 60 years ago. When your series of choices is, this one item. That makes the decision process very easy. And the rest is up to you. Which means, you have to be very good. Since you don't have any other, gobbledygook options. And you won't over think everything. Because there is nothing really, to think about. You don't have any choices. You have one choice. And only one. You better make the best of it. Because there isn't anything else. And it's amazing how good you will get, quickly. As it's sink or swim, do or die, fly or crash and burn. Choose one. The right one. You have only one to choose. Blah! So there! Later in my career. I worked toward and saved up for, all of the high-end equipment I wanted. And I continue to keep things, simple. I don't need, 100 different choices. Two, three or four is all that's necessary. Any more than that? And you don't know what you're doing. If you think you need more than that? Yeah no you don't. I'm a real Audio Engineer. I fix problems at recording studios that electrical engineers and acoustic engineers have made mistakes with. They all seem to know what they are doing. Until you listen to their results. When it becomes quite obvious. They don't know, diddley squat. And they have a college degree. And they learned from their professors. That also never had the career I had. And really never got to do that for a living, themselves. That's why they teach misinformation. They got the answers right on the tests. Which doesn't mean they learned anything. Because they haven't. They cannot think, audio recording techniques, through correctly. It's really quite amazing. They flunk! Most are frauds. They wave their college degree at you and tell you they are supposed to know something you don't. When they really know nothing at all. They have no idea what the hell they are listening to. They don't know how to listen. They were never taught, how to listen. What to listen to. What it should sound like. What to listen for. And where are the problems? Here's a problem nobody knows about. Because everybody gets it wrong. Everybody. It is an accepted practice. To get this wrong. Based upon misinformation and ignorance. I regret to inform most of you. Whatever speakers. Whatever headphones. You are listening to. Whether it's in your home or in your car. I can virtually guarantee. are in phase together. But together. They are also in negative polarity. They got the wiring backwards on the speakers. And it's the wiring on the speakers. That must be changed. It's really quite amazing. What a stupid blunder this actually is. Created by, electrical engineers and acoustic engineers. That could not think this process through correctly. They all make this mistake. It's amazing! It's the most ignorant college blunder in Pro Audio History. You see. What has occurred here. It is based upon, ignorant, pop-culture, misinformation. Where morons have declared and demanded. They don't want any out of phase anything in their signal chain. Oh really? What about where it must be inverted? And they cannot live with that, thought. What nobody was able to think through. If everything is in phase. And you test the speaker with a, 9 V battery. To establish its positive and negative polarity. And when applied with positive voltage. The speaker moves out toward you. As it should. Therefore when this test is done. Everybody is convinced. They have everything in phase and in positive polarity. Whoopsy. They do not. Here's why. What they have successfully done. Is, to ensure, everything has been, electrically, positively, oriented. And this has been proven. With the battery on the speaker terminals. Oh but wait! When everyone has successfully done. Is, to make your speaker cones and drivers. Perfectly mimic. The microphone diaphragms. And which way are those microphone diaphragms going in? When they are struck by, sound pressure waves? Do the diaphragms defy physics and protrude outward toward the sound pressure wave blast? OF COURSE NOT! Those diaphragms are pushed into, the body of the microphone. And your speakers are now mimicking that motion. In the wrong direction. They are not moving out toward you. They are sucking away from you. You receive the rebound out the front in negative polarity. Because it's actually trying to direct the sound. Out the solid closed back of the speaker box. Where only very low frequencies to come protruding out the solid back of the speaker. And you get negative polarity high frequencies out of the front. Then the sound coming off the back of the speaker box. Then slaps against the wall behind it. Which then reflects out toward you. Making certain the low frequencies arrive to you. At about the same time the negative polarity low frequencies are sucking away from you. And half the sound is canceling out, in midair in your room. And depending upon where you sit or stand. If you are not precisely and rigidly in the center. You will not hear stereo. If you are 1 inch closer to your left speaker. You will only hear the left channel. If you are 1 inch closer to your right speaker. You will only hear the right speaker. You will not hear stereo from both. Because it's canceling out. From its negative polarity. By the time it gets to where you are. Closer to that other channel, speaker. And your only hearing that speaker. Because everything is canceling from the other speaker by the time he gets to your ears. It's amazingly mindless! Nobody has properly thought this through except for one single speaker manufacturer. Originally from Los Angeles. By the name of the James B. Lansing Speaker Company a.k.a. JBL Speakers. They got it right. Then ask any PA guy. If they love JBL speakers? They all do. But they will tell you. That JBL speakers are out of phase. To all other speaker manufacturers, in the world! And this is the reason for that! They got it right! I figured this issue out back in 1978. When I designed and built, from scratch. Baltimore's second largest, Music Regarding & Commercial Production, Industrial Film Company. As we had a couple of speaker companies. Who wanted us to use their speakers. As our primary, control room monitor speakers. And I discover they are out of phase. To our JBL speakers. And I discover they are all, out of phase to, JBL speakers. And I wondered what the hell was going on? And so when you lay it out on paper. What JBL has done and what I have done. Make total sense of the sound coming from the speakers. Because your brain. Does not want to accept, negative polarity, ssucking, sound pressure levels. Your brain doesn't like it that way. It wants to hear, a, Positive Pressure Wave coming at you. Not sucking away from you. And no one has been able to properly think this through except for myself. When I was 22 years old in 1978. And a studio designing wunderkind. Who also repairs other studios for people. Or for the NBC Television Network. That was originally owned by RCA who hired me. (More Whack in next post)

Hi Steve. Other drone tutorial channels give the quick “hacks” and done. I think episodes/channels are lifeless, obvious and they’re all just copying each other. I’m making my channel to be more…..playful, more of a behind-the-scenes / character driven style content. You consider it “filler”. Other people seem to like my content and I enjoy crafting it. Probably my channel is not a perfect fit for you my flying filmmaker friend. It’s cool, there’s a metric sh*t-ton of quick drone “hack” tutorial channels out there. You will HATE my next episode.

hey Danny! I lived in New York City for 25 years so trust me, my “filth” level is currently turned down to a 1 out of 10! Since moving out of NYC several years ago….I rarely swear now. You know I never meant to offend you or anyone. Given the global reach of the internet…someone somewhere will always be offended. Your religion & beliefs are offending many people around the world. Including some scientists who believe in the science/facts of evolution. It is ONLY through the proliferation of tolerance, compassion & empathy, will our exponentially complicated & beautiful world continue to be livable. I recently read an interview of Dr. Edith Eger. THAT IS TRULY….the most mind-bending story of unthinkable tolerance, compassion & empathy. She is my God. Danny I apologize for offending you good sir. If I offended you….I probably offended others. I promise to try to never swear again. If one sneaks through occasionally…..dang. Future Ted apologizes now.

@@TedNemethTed, as I said, the cussing has gotten continuously worse. I haven't watched all your videos, but I've watched over 90% of them and I have noticed this trend. I also wanted you to know this is why I stop watching a video before it ends. I would gladly dispute that their are any facts in macro evolution. Also, to make a human your god is idol worship and that's never ended well. I know that you are very creative and perhaps one of the best on KZfaq, however, how you cannot be creative with words does not make sense. So here's to hoping you can speak decently while in a public space. If not, if it's your thing, that's ok. I'll just keep searching for other creatives who can control their tongue. This is not a threat. You have a huge channel and you don't need me and I know that. I just like to let those whom I respect know when they have crossed a line and that costs them my full view. Have a great weekend.

And so Homo sapiens 2.0. Which is what I am and many other intellectuals that I know, must be. Each half of our hemisphere. Compares the information it gathered. With the other hemisphere. Where we then arrive. At an intelligent solution and answer. This is called intellect. They have no intellect. They can have no intellect. Within only a single hemisphere of consciousness. I've been told I'm wrong about this. But I know I'm not. I'm an expert technical troubleshooter. I troubleshoot with the college degree guys cannot. I have no college degree. I am not limited. By a textbook or a mathematical formula. I get to think outside the box. This is the difference. This is what we call, intellect and intelligence quotient. And everybody wants to know what IQ, means? It means, me. It means, Einstein. It means, Noam Chomsky. We are intellect's. They are not. They have no intellect. They re-create history in their own minds. As Ronnie De Sepsis is doing. He is rewriting black history his way. He knows more than anybody! Because he has a fraudulent degree from both Harvard and Yale that was obviously paid for. Just like Lori Loughlin did for her idiot daughter. To get her into USC. And thankfully she had the sense to drop out. Ronnie didn't. And he should have. Because he certainly doesn't agree with either Harvard nor Yale intellect. And how they let him through I don't know? They were obviously paid well for that. As they been known to turn out better human beings. So how he got by them? I don't know? It had to be money changing hands. Just follow the money. Because no way he learned anything about anyone! He is beyond ignorant! And with college degrees from both Harvard and Yale? So I think we all need to get together. And start a class action lawsuit against both Harvard and Yale. No way they should've let this one through. No way! He's the opposite of what they stand for! He's a bigot of the worst order! And he needs to be ended. Voted out. Voted away. Banished from the USA! He's not an American! He's a Nazi ! And, we know what to do with Nazis now don't we? He's got it coming! As he also ain't black! And what right does he have to rewrite black history in the USA? None! Zero! He's a bigot a Nazi! The worst of the worst! And something needs to be done about him, pronto! Where are the Black Panthers when you need them? They need to take care of his types. He's destroying their culture. He's destroying their history. He's a Nazi lowlife scumbag. And nothing more. So is Donnie. They are both competing. To be the worst of the worst. They are flinging their penises about! Let's just cut them off for them. And make them like me. They need to become women. Let's make them women. They deserve to become women. Then let's see how they carry-on? As John Wayne Bobbitt got his back. But it fell off later. He doesn't feel anything anymore. He can't get off anymore. And he deserved it. And I hope he dies a painful cruel death. That's all he deserves. And I hope he feels like a girl. Because he used to beat his wife up when he would come home stinking drunk. What was interesting about that crime. She got in her car after cutting off his penis. And took a drive. Then through his penis out the window of her car. It landed 20 feet away. From the front door of my Recording Studio. And my Recording Studio made the news. As all the guys. In the TV control room asked me. Hey Remy… Isn't that your recording studio truck? Why? Yes. Yes it is! Oh my God! As I was the Audio Engineer for the news that night. And there was my recording studio truck on camera. No wonder all those cops were out in the field searching? I couldn't figure out what they were searching for? I thought I was getting busted? But no! They left a little while later. And I never knew what they were there for? Until the next night when I was doing the news. And there was my recording studio on camera. Oh dear. How funny can you get? This is a true story. This actually happened to me. His penis ended up near the front door of my recording studio. And I didn't even know Lorena Bobbitt? Why did she throw his penis at my recording studio? I never had the opportunity to ask her. She went to jail for 5 years for aggravated assault. For cutting off his penis after he beat her in a drunken stupor. He never felt a thing. He was passed out in his easy chair.. That's the way to do it! Whack! Bye-bye Mr. Penis! I just about laughed my ass off over that one! And my recording truck made the news! But only when you saw the sign on the door. Audio Oasis. Which is what I called my studio. As I could take it anywhere to record live. And to do live broadcasts. Both. Of music entertainment events. Since I have no interest in cutting off penises on violent rednecks. Let them cut off their own penis! I did. Or, rather the doctor did it for me. But I could've had Lorena do it for free! I didn't know her back then? I would have gladly dated her and beaten her up. To get my sex change for less money. But that thought never occurred to me. Until after that night. Then later. I resigned from NBC-TV News. Because I thought Hillary was going to get elected. But Donnie got elected, instead. And dammit all! I wanted my opportunity! To have him grab. My pussy exhalation Mark as I could use the money. And I would promise not to tell anybody! But Stormie told everybody! What was with her? $160,000 not enough? I wouldn't have complained. As I also paid a lot of money for my man-made pussy! And I'd like to offset that cost a bit. I could've bought a house for what I paid for this. Now I have no house! And therefor. No mouse, either. For a house. One fish. Two fish. Red fish. Blue fish. Sushi fish.. WASABI fish. Go fish! Yay! RemyRAD
