In this video we looks at upgrades for the Numatic Henry vacuum. Henry hoovers can make great dust extractors for woodworking but require a few upgrades / mods.

I’m looking for a wet dry vac, and this is the first video I’ve seen by you. I love your honesty and clarity. I agree with you about the lower wattage meaning less power. I’ve decided not to waste any more money on new Miele or Dyson, ( I’ve bought three in the past four years, all were rubbish in terms of build, exterior casing and particularly suction) and I only buy second hand now with higher wattage. Thank you for taking the time and effort to give useful information about your Henry.

Thanks for the tips... I converted from 32mm to 38mm everything! The only downside is that I was p'd off when I received an Orange hose, not yelllow as you show and as stated and advertised on Amazon UK. All other accessories through "Beacon" except for the floor/carpet brush-head which is a Heavy Duty unit and slightly larger. The new "Henry" is still powerful enough to lift carpets held in place by "Gripper"... We tried all the cordless but, as you said, trades people rely on these "Henry" machines too! A decent smelly, as you advise, is far better than nothing...

For my workshop, I bought a bucket with a sealable lid and fitted a cyclone unit. All the dust etc drops into the bin, nothing passes through to Henry- unless I let the bin fill too far! It's surprising how many I see thrown on top of skips by builders, I've picked up a few freebies, a few quid for new carbon brushes and black spray paint and jobs a good un.

Henry vacuums are cheap in the UK but over here in Canada, you are looking at a price of CA$500. That's not too bad as a commercial canister but for shop work the better solution is Emerson's Ridgid or Workshop Vac brands. I guess you could get just a regular Shop-Vac brand machine too and all three brands come with the option of a plethora of attachments, many of them cross-compatible with each other.

Get the HEPA filter in your links. I have one installed, they are brilliant. Also, use Swirl vacuum bags. They're way better than the Numatic Henry bags but unfortunately a lot smaller. With your older more powerful Henry motor, that large bore hose plus thd HEPA filter and Swirl vacuum bag you'd have a dust extractor better than pretty much anything on the market at a considerably lower price. Oh and by the way, it's actually possible to buy a device that will enable your Henry to come on and off automatically after you switch you power tools on. This will allow you to keep Henry out of the way.

09:02 I do belive its 2003 as first 2 digits of a serial number corespond to the year of manufacture, and digit 3 and 4 corespond to the week number of that year ( exactly how car tires are dated) it was close enough I suppose.

Hi Cynthia. On the metal pole there should be a thing which you turn and it let's air in. I believe that will lower the suction for when you are finding it too powerful. I know the feeling, they can be too powerful sometimes.

Sorry to hear that. I would add that it is probably due to the extraction port on the tool rather than the extractor itself. Although I don't ever do chasing myself, I have seen electricians use my own and they have really praised it. Have you upgraded the hose?

@christopherinteriors6521
@christopherinteriors6521 Жыл бұрын
On the metal pole there is a plastic collar that you can turn that makes a hole and it makes it pull less on the carpet. There is no actual pressure adjustment on the machine itself.

I have used those before. They are great for cleaning the house but not good for things like dust extraction in my woodworking workshop. The particles are too small that they escape the zip on the bag and make a mess. They are also not HEPA rated. You are right though and I would recommend them for day to day cleaning.

@christopherinteriors6521
@christopherinteriors6521 Жыл бұрын
That would all depend on the size of the port on the sander. I can't give you a specific answer as every single sander is different. Every single tool is different. I have 4 Sanders and the original Henry hose didn't fit on any of them. Every one of my power tools has a different size port and it is really frustrating. You can actually get adapters that change any sizes as I have seen them on ebay. Personally I make adapters for the tools that I use Henry for as I have so many tools. As for the standard hoover attachments, yes they don't fit as the port is bigger. There are bigger wands out there but again I made my own with some plastic pipe. As it only takes a couple of seconds to swap the hoses over and the hose being so cheap, I would recommend having both hoses. For the likes of a sander, the smaller diameter hose would be good as you don't need as much suction. For something like a mitre saw I would recommend the bigger hose. If you are clearing up on a job site then I would suggest the bigger hose as the port is bigger and allows you to hoover up larger pieces. Sorry for the long reply, I have tried to help as much as I can.
