Good and sharp-looking content, Brett...subscribed as you requested! :-) You probably have already done what you're gonna do, but if not, you might want to think about a PCIe adapter and an M.2 SSD instead of the 2.5" SATA SSD. I think your limit of two 3.5" bays are better utilized by HDs, and you'll get much better speed out of an M.2 SSD in a PCIe slot for not a lot more than a SATA SSD. Just my $0.02. Enjoy the new Mac Pro!

Oh I 100% agree!! I’m actually planning to do both. Sadly with everything going on I can’t justify the need or price of the m.2 PCIe solution just yet. Work for me ranges from photojournalism assignment editing in Lightroom to editing video ads shot in raw. So currently I just need a good spot for my Lightroom catalog and scratch video projects etc. then I’ll do a 4-6 SSD m.2 once normal work resumes. Also found a way to tack a Bonus drive on the Pegasus I want to try. (My 2.5” shows up tomorrow!)

Like it and yes I get what you are trying to do, it makes sense. I have one too. I also have a MacPro 4,1 maxed out, nothing in between until now.
