In this video, I fit replacement metal lower and upper arms and the Tamiya LED light kit before heading out into the English countryside to see how it performs.

2mm flashing lead, cut into strips and wrap around the wheels before you put the tyres on👍. Low down unsprung weight.

as always thanks for sharing, I really think that tamiya lovers will buy this car but not in place of a scx10 version, trx4, redcat and the rest, I also don't think the tamiya engineers are expecting their truck to compete with the for mentioned or at least I hope not. To enjoy a tamiya you really have to change your expectation of performance and love tamiyas for what they are and not who they may resemble, 6x6 well I will say yes just for fun

I would invest in some portal axles and spacers. You could get some more ground clearance and get the tires away from the shocks. Also you might be able to get tighter steering. Great video

Great video. I use a electronic switch right out of the receiver to the light controller so I can turn them on and off. I use a servo end on the controller and a use the female end on the chassis. The light don't even pull an amp.

I think the thing that people need to understand about this truck. It will not be a competition truck. It was not meant to be. It is just a basic trial rig. It just looks cool and it works well for what it was meant to do. If you want a competition style truck look at the Traxxas TRX4 or even better the Vanquish VS4-10pro. Your thoughts?

I like my CC-02. Yes it's far from the best and designed in that weird way only Tamiya can. But slap on a decent pair of tires and it performs pretty good. Aftermarket support is alright with several brands like GPM and Yeah Racing making several parts and offcourse the unknown stuff from AliExpress and all that chinese stuff. All together I don't think of it any less than my other scale trucks.

Cracking video, great advice and links to upgrade products - thanks! Can a driver be fitted a 1/10 action type figure? I was also pondering, can the R clips be binned and mount posts used in conjunction with magnets? I have a soft spot for Tamiya, I'm tempted with this kit, as I'm finding that scale looks and trailing is more my thing (not many rock faces where I live, sadly!). Looking forward to seeing how you progress, cracking looking model.

Thanks Muso, You could fit a full interior into this truck with a figure driver if you wanted to. It would take some work but the space is available. You could also use magnets to hold the body if you are looking for scale realism 👍🏻

No these are not the kit tyres. These are tamiya tyres from the Unimog

Suspension links count as unsprung with halve of their weight: Since one side is weighting on the unsprung axle and one side is tied to the sprung chassis. Of course, the link between the front wheels is completly unsprung weight. So you added about 58g of unsprung weight and 45g of sprung weigt. Just because you insisted multiple times on how much unsprung weight you are adding.

You are completely correct. These are semi sprung / hybrid weight so not all of its mass can be taken as unsprung.

Little Red Riding Hood you sure are looking good I would have put a sway bar and I would put hex extenders so that way it sticks out like a frog I'm going to put some on my car not the extenders just the adapters to make it a 17 millimeter hex but that is a smart idea I see that truck as a runner it looks like they'll take a lot of damage even if you don't make it seem like it I know it will cuz I can see how it is made as for competition it all depends on how much money you want to put in it like you said you already have a competition crawler why make two trails truck sounds really good nothing special but you still get too crawl up everything in style put a dog hanging out the window and a hillbilly driver or maybe a driver that looks like you that would be cool how about a Servo airbag that way if you need to crawl up something high you'll have the clearance at the touch of a button and then you can drop the truck that would be freaking awesome with a sound system yeah a chrome billet grill with a winch on it don't get me started
