Great video! I like the idea of the charger as we also have the old converter. Look forward to seeing how that works. We unfortunately have to keep the camper at a storage unit so no availability to charge but we do have a new generator so thanks for the idea!

Supposedly the Voltage Queen 190amp will fit the standard dual battery box.. I’ll know for sure tomorrow. Edit: yep it fits fine - had to add some foam on the sides to snug it up a bit.

I went with two 125ah Ionics lithium batteries on my RV. 11 year Warranty, $749 each with 5% discount code I found online and they have Bluetooth app to monitor batteries. No need for additional shunt.

It's really not that bad to pull your old converter/charger and install a new one. My friend has a GeoPro like yours and I just helped him swap it out. Four screws and out it came with plenty of wire to pull it away from the base. Took us a little over an hour to do the whole job. He went with SOK because the specs were pretty much on par with BB. He was also able to pick up a really nice battery monitor when he purchased the battery (looks like Victron but not). The whole thing was about $850 including the WFCO direct replacement power center converter/charger that supports lithium batteries and he doesn't have to deal with additional chargers. Please know that I am in no way trying to tell you what you should do. It's your stuff and you are entitled to do what you feel is right for you. Just wanted to let you know my friends experience. I'm going to be doing the same thing in the near future but I'm a little luckier in that my converter/charger supports lithium by changing a jumper. Looking forward to watching you do the actual install and seeing how well it all works when you're boondocking. As always, thanks for another fine video.

Great to know, I will make my final decisions mid-March, so I still have time. Hope to have this done by the end of March for the 22 camping season.

I have a 19FD with one battleborn 100 amp battery, did not change anything and works great for two nights boondocking. Battleborn BMS protects from charging above and below the operating temps. Most low cost Lifepo batteries do not shut off charging below the min temp and could cause damage.

So could a person trickle charge the battery when at home to "top it off"? Will having the lithium hooked up while driving hurt any anything?

Yes you can trickle charge and no there is no problem while driving

Go with SOK or Chins Lithium batteries. Way cheaper and proven through test, by Will Prowse.

If that works for you, great. But in MY case I want the peace of mind of the battle born warranty.

Chins does not have low temp charging protection unless you get the one that’s like $100 cheaper than battleborn. At that point just spring for the battery that will have an actual warranty if you need it. Chins, ampertime and others are literally ram out of a basement, warranty doesn’t mean much on them.

What is the advantage of 100 amp hour lithium vs. 2-6 volt golf cart batteries that give 112 amp hours at 50% capacity?

Weight and not worrying about discharging below 50%. It does come at a considerable cost but one I am willing to take.

Yes, probably 80-90 lbs. lighter than lead acid batteries. Would a 200 amp hour lithium battery fit in the box? That would be lighter and double the capacity.

@@leonardvecchio1637 I think so but in my case I am pretty sure a 100ah will do just fine for 1 or 2 off grid days and an LP Fridge.
