For both my grilles and my horn button I ended up using my soldering iron and some ABS plastic junk I had sitting around to 'weld' the tabs back on. 2 years later, and we're still rocking and rolling.

@luketrash Do you just melt the ABS on top of the tab? I still have the original ones, we could give it a try!

@@SuburbanRanch yep! The two locating pins were still intact so I melted plastic around the edges like your LMC ones. I even had to remove them once when I installed new speakers and the clips didn’t break off again.

Another way to glue the clips back on is with a hot glue gun. Works on pretty much all plastics, glass, metals, etc.

There is a lot of pressure on the clips during install and removal, I don’t think hot glue would hold.

I've never heard of super glue activater does it not work without it? Anyway I was just curious and thank you for your time and effort

@Phillip Arthur It dries much faster with the activator.

Interesting.. My original grilles had no coverage. I broke, then lost my originals, and ended up on evil bay for replacements.... this was long before LMC did repops.

Did you did you paint those covers blue or did they come from lmc already painted? Because from what I see on the website they are dark grey.

That is how they came from LMC

Umm pretty sure they didn't come from the factory with material over the front speakers, I guess it's about your taste, I have a 93 K1500, Cheyenne with the same exact color interior, I replaced my back speakers at the same time I replaced my back window, my front speaker grills are cracked too, but I have a really nice dash cover so it looks fine, would eventually like to be able to fix the grills, but one thing I have noticed is parts for the 88 to 94 are hard to come by sometimes and are expensive compared to other years. Mine is a rust free originally New Mexico truck.

@Rick Rathman I believe the Cheyenne is a lower level trim. The higher level trims had upholstery on the speaker grills from what I have seen. For interior parts, LMC has a decent selection, but otherwise you have to turn to the junk yards.

What color and kind of fabric did you buy? I’m getting ready to do the same job. Thanks

@Sam A. Black speaker mesh from Jo-Ann fabric. The black actually looks pretty good against the blue dash
