Tim Connor makes a short film about Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It's where I grew up. I wanted to create a short film highlighting how wild, and rugged Michigan's Upper Peninsula is! #puremichigan #lakesuperior #theUP

The UP is home- from the Soo Locks to Copper Harbor. Great grandpa born in Osceola ( tad south if Calumet). Always ate fresh smoked fish, sweat in saunas and pasties. I knew a man at the bottom of Lake Superior- Bless The Fitzgerald. Keep Detroit where it is!

I was just telling a guy last night how much I loved my home state of Michigan. He was from Indiana LOL. I was away from it for many years in the military. This time when I came home it was for real. Love it here. I fought for it, I'll die here. What an incredible place Michigan is in comparison to the places where I went overseas. I will never leave here again

I was born and raised in Northern Michigan, but unfortunately not over the bridge. It's funny, tourists will come to my area (Charlevoix County) and tell me how beautiful it is up here, and it's nice to get away from it all. I always tell them that if they really want to "get away from it all" they've got about 50 minutes North for that.

Great shots, great sentiment, my only nit-pick is the phrase Detroit and the other half of Michigan, the UP. There are quite a few miles between SE Michigan and the bridge, and I'm not saying northern lower is the same as the UP, it isn't, the UP is a distinct and beautiful area separate from the lower, but at the same time Lower Michigan is not all about Detroit.
@TimConnor13
@TimConnor13 5 жыл бұрын
I agree. However there is ONLY so much time for voiceover in a four minute short film. There are many beautiful spots in the LP. This film for me was about highlighting the U.P. and some of what it has to offer. It's the part of the state that receives the least publicity, for good reason probably it's not the population center of the state, but it has some of the most genuine people I've met anywhere, and amazing scenery. That's what I wanted to highlight in this short film.

Actually moving there to get an abandoned farmstead and start an animal sanctuary. And escape the crime down here. I LOVE the snow, cool summer nights, the lack of road noise, the sparse population density, the little local stores. A different way of life to be certain. You don't need a $25,000 side by side, a $12,000 snowmobile, a $40,000 boat to enjoy . Those are for the FIB'S. A good used sled,Gator, canoe, and Jeep.

I almost don't want to see documentaries on it, because Ive been dreaming about moving there ever since I saw a photo of it 20 years ago, a pine tree on a big dune, and the blue blue water of the UP. Then I made a friend from Michigan, and it keeps reoccurring to me as a place I need to go. Little things about it over the years, would come up, and I have this list of reasons I want to go there. I love wild places, and from what I gather people are nice, laid back. Seems like a great place for an introvert, like me, to find a cabin, to enjoy, and create things in, explore woods/beaches. I hope its not fully discovered before I make it there, and still sleepy, and lost.

I live in Central Lower Michigan 30 miles east of Grand Rapids. I have ridden, driven and flown our Upper Peninsula. I came close to moving into the Newberry area years ago. I'd still like to get a place up there. I have been all over this country. No where beats the beauty of the U.P. . NOWHERE. As much as I have been up there as said in the video..one needs a lifetime ( and then some..addition mine ) to fully explore and appreciate it, it's history and the incredible people who call it home. I might add very blessed who call it home. An extremely well done video and tribute. Hope to get up there again in a few days when I start my vacation. Thank You for doing such a wonderful job on this. Doran Jaffas Central Lower Michigan N625MS update..My wife and I made it up over Labor Day. Toured the Locks and just drove around and saw some sights. ALWAYS a good time.

@@TimConnor13 thank you for showing just how beautiful the U.P is. I've tried to explain to friends who've never been here, just why I live here, but my words dont do it justice. Not like your video does.
