Hey guys. Great outing to the north west. I like that stretch from newton towards mandai till sembawang . Lotsa greenery. Old school stuff and even retro things to see. Thanks for sharing this wonderful trip to showcase that part of Singapore ❤

Very nice place upper Thomson road. My version of baked rice is different, Usually it is left over rice and Japanese curry from last night's dinner and I top it up with cheese and heat it up in the oven. ^_^

Another food adventure. The Baked Rice did look interesting. We have Colombus Coffee shops in New Zealand, but it has a different logo. I was trying to see if they were connected, but I think not.

Baked rice is commonly found in Hong Kong Cha chaan teng. It's basically cooked rice with pork chop or other protein then they top it with cheese to bake and melt the cheese LOL. I've never been fond of those scissor cut style of curry though. As their curry is heavily starched and not strong in the spice flavours. Curries my grandmother/mother cooked don't add starch. Malay curries don't have added starch too.

Yea thomson is a gem, its sad Lta had cut down so many of the iconic big trees. Whenever i took bus to town loved the trees

Upper Thomson is a real food paradise with so much variety... you could do 4 or 5 video episodes of food outlets there, I reckon, especially with the stretch across the road from where you were. Also some interesting shops apart from the food offerings.

'Baked rice'. (1) SG EL tichers dun tich der difference betwin long & shot vowels. (2) SG EL teachers dun emphasize the utterance of the final consonant. That's why Singaporeans don't speak with link ups, like 'geton the bus' and 'He toldus'. (3) SG EL teachers don't teach the pronunciations of past tense of verbs ending with a plosive : ch, f, k, p, s, sh, the utterance of the /t/ sound in these words : hatchedt, surfedt, bakedt(bait), hopedt, missedt(mist), pushedt.
