It never ceases to amaze me how Upwork is filled with hilariously awful and disgusting video editor job posts. Laugh with me as we read some of them!
I help KZfaq video editors realize they're artists so they can get paid more and have a better life. www.videoeditingartist.com/

I appreciate spreading awareness about bad work and having browsed UpWork myself, I know so many video-editing postings deserve legit bashing, but you seem to go over the top and also bash some for reasons made out of thin air: 1) The post never asks for free work, it just provides a **sample** task to give you an idea of what job would be like - you later (reasonably) bashed post #7 for the exact opposite: absence of details 4) Bashing on how Vlog video-editing takes a lot of time would make sense if the pay in that post was "per video", but with pay "per hour", the more footage they send you and the more you have to watch it - the more you get paid, so it's fair in this regard 5) "They want you to do all of the work", - so? What's the problem if they paid for it decently? 6.1) "They want to be able to access the files ... They don't value your creativity ...", - you make it sound as if the client is some evil entity, whose goal is to undermine your work. No one wants to do extra "after editing" work. Everyone would prefer to get a perfect video right away. The client is just being realistic is that you might not produce exactly what they are looking for and saying they might fix it themselves (instead of taking your time with multiple revisions). 6.2) Work on weekends is valid personal choice 10) "$400/hour and still making profit", - you are making it up completely. Unless the editing is very simple with super consistent views, $400/hour is gonna bankrupt pretty much everybody. General note about salary: every single post, you completely ignore the range and only focus on the smallest number. It's not "$5/h", it's "$5-10/h". You only point out to the number, which backs up your message ignoring the other one and it comes off as disingenuous. "You can make $25 in 2 hours working in Burger King", - American detected. Sometimes Americans tend to forget that not everyone lives in the US and also how privilidged they are with salaries. I'm not saying that $5/h is a lot, but I don't jump to quick conclusions: not everyone can find high-paying American job and not everyone can pay high salary. You say something along the lines that ~"editor will do all the work and the KZfaqr/client will earn the money" - that is quite strange to hear considering most of your videos gain

Hey Yousef, the video was on point, I have been working as a video editor on Upwork for last 3 years, I learnt a lot in these years but have not been able to grow my income at all, most of the jobs are trash and I find it extremely difficult if not impossible to score jobs that pay $20/hr which is my hourly rate. I have come to a point where I am rethinking my freelancing career and thinking of either switching my entire career or maybe land a stable job, what would you recommend?

Glad you want to take the steps to grow your career. Check out the videos I made on how to get clients on KZfaq for free via cold emailing and how to get started being a video editor which has all the tips for success. It'll be hard but you can do it! I believe in you.
