Such a magnificent building and a piece of history! So glad that unlike so many other abandoned buildings this one has been protected from vandalism. I'll never understand why a owner or city would allow a building...any building to deteriorate to the point where it has to be condemned and torn down without allowing a salvage company to at the very least salvage pieces of art. When I say art I'm talking about mantels, hardwoods, staircase banisters things of dying tradesmen work. These are priceless pieces of work to me

Thank you for getting permission, and for bringing us along. As an architecture hobbyist, I can tell you the place is being renovated to host events, which requires meeting health and safety, as well as structural codes. That explains the modern bathrooms and odd holes for new wiring and ventilation. Rooms with niches were usually bedrooms, with the beds set in the niche perpendicularly for grand rooms, or parallel and completely within the niche for more intimate rooms. Niches were also included in "cabinets," smaller private rooms for bathing, dressing, study or just getting away from everyone else. The room with the niche flanked by glazed doors is a grand chambre, while that with the old sofa in the niche is probably a cabinet. The sofa is, I think, much later than the room. It's such a beautiful building, and I'm glad it still has life and purpose. I confess this is the second time I've watched it.

This castle could easily be converted for special events on the first floor such as artist showings and open to the public to bring in needed cash. The cost of renovations for the third and fourth floor would cost a small fortune bringing in needed $$$$ is ideal for an ambitious project such as this one. Delaying not only would be unwise but extremely costly, as construction costs continue to increase while labor is more expensive than the materials required.

It is so gorgeous! And it is a shame that all the castles and hudge homes all over the world sit in decay. But this one is stunning! I would just love to walk through these with my imagination running wild. I'd feel like a princess at a ball.

Could you imagine being all dressed up and standing on the balcony area of the second floor and greeting a party of friends and saying " Welcome my dear friends, and so glad you could make it? Relax and enjoy, as we will be giving out ordervs, and help yourself o the buffet. We do have antiseptic cream in one corner of the room and please 'do use it' after and before eating. Do not kiss or shake hands. Just bow. Remain on the first floor and we will have music later for your enjoyment after dinner. lol ( I am being a little bit silly really, but this would be sort of how it could work. ) It is so important that it has that great heating system that keeps it so warm as many castles do not heat up and the people are chilly all the time. A person could live in this castle and have a Bed and Breakfast and people called 'Work a ways' come to work and some volunteers could come to work and stay free if thy cook, clean or do gardening and 'various things' at the direction of owners. But they could have talented people so they could have dances, or music and very upscale type parties. 'But they must help out at the Castle' and some would just 'pay for Bed and Breakfast 'so of course, they would not work. But would also get to eat as some would be cooking. They would have a bedroom and bathroom. Each bedroom would have a couple chairs and maybe a desk or table and area to relax and sleep and get away for a bit when needed. But otherwise, they would join in with working and whatever their talent leads for them to do. Just have to be careful who you take in, and get background checks and learn more about them. Some people make money doing blogs and people pay to watch them with what they do all day and how they are fixing up the castle if they have patrons.

Magnificent Castle, beautifully designed. Love the architecture and craftsmanship. 9:47 frame, OMG! I hope they leave this room, as it is! Such a spectacular and haunting Medieval style. The ceiling such an awesome sight. The room completely, visually taken me back to the time of the Knights Templar. The walls need swords, a Family Crest, and statues in full Medieval Knight Armor.. The Crusaders. This castle has blown my mind, awesome video. Thank you Sir.

This place is obviously being restored and has a repourposed future. It would have been interesting to have seen the utility rooms such as the basement, kitchens, furnaces, electrical plants, and more bathrooms. I assume that the brick wall construction, as opposed to stone, is a newer development in construction techniques and am curious about the transition time from one to the other.brick appears to be more stable. On the other hand, those stone walls (in older structures) have held up for hundreds of years but are probably more difficult to modernize. (Ie. Wiring, plumbing, heating, ect.) I’m fascinated by the history of construction technology. Any programs in the future specializing in these issues?

@horaciomillan41814 жыл бұрын
Well, it seems it´s not completely abandoned, most probably was intended to be a school or hotel or something like that if it has those bathrooms. The structure stands very well, wich shows that it is not really old and the quality of materials used is very good. But the main thing to understand it is not really old, probably not far away from mid nineteen century is the building structure wich seems to be in very modern style of develoment but with period decoration. It is possibly a re interpretation of neo baroque or neo rococo style, though on fundations of an older building. Very beautiful indeed, but not very old. On the other side, I always worry about practicalities when see this kind of chateaux: for instance, the water that surrounds it must be very smelly if it doesn´t flow; and in summer can be a lot of mosquitoes. Plus problems in the basement with moisture and humidity. And please excuse me if I make a critic, wich is only a personal opinion: your video would be better with less dialogue, the images are eloquent enough. It is always better to show with images than to describe with words.
