Urban Exploring the abandoned Arawak Hotel in the Bahamas.

Күн бұрынSo this doesn't really fit with the channel but I thought this was to cool not to post here. We visited Free Port in the Bahamas a few years ago and we explored the ruins of the Arawak Hotel.
It's nearly impossible to find any photos of this place from before it was in ruins so if anyone can find anything please post a comment below.

A lot of Grand Bahamas is abandoned. I asked a few locals why and got different reasons. Seemed no one wanted to talk about it.

i lived on Nassau for about 10 years. Freeport always seemed strange to me. NOTHING like Nassau.

Yea I've heard that. It's sad that so much of Freeport seems to be falling apart. There were half built buildings all over the island.

All the government power, money and corrupt officials are on Nassau. Freeport gets crumbs from the Bahamian government and is basically reliant on the Freeport Port Authority for any infrastructure. Fun fact, the Famous Atlantis resort in Nassau/Paradise was supposed to be built on Grand Bahama, before officials bribed the developer to move the project to Nassau.

It was in pretty rough shape when we visited a few years ago. Wonder how many more storms it can take.
