About Nydal
In this series I will attempt to create a European-inspired city, not based on any one country or style but featuring a strong mass transit network and realistic looking road layout with a strong attention to detail.

Loving the build. Have you thought about creating some restaurants/bars/clubs around town to make it feel a little more lively, maybe even have a large pedestrian zone with shops and eatery's. Great job so far man.

In the park with the manicured trees, where you felt it is missing something - what about some long reflecting pools? That should go well with the adjacent flower gardens. Loving how Nydal is coming together! 😁👍🏼

Wouldn't that be too much? There is the river nearby already.

Alternatively you could make the big patches of grass feel "lived in", in a sense. In a real city, these manicured meadows right on the river would (on a nice day) be full of people on a picnic, playing ball or just sunbathing. (Examples could be the "Rheinwiesen" in Cologne or the "Donauinsel" in Vienna.)

Something missing in the manicured park is blossom trees in the middle and benches. Perfect place for the cims to go and get some sweet instagram photos once a year and for tourist to flock to. ;) Which also gave me an idea that would be super sweet regarding parks and green spaces. A semi big botanical garden. That would be AMAZING.

Great video as always ! I’d like to just point out one thing that looks odd to me : usually in big cities the tramways are not painted or identified physically to the line they are doing , this is so they can repurposed or reassigned to other lines without needing to repaint them. Having some trams painted in yellow and others in other colors would be a very tough logistic challenge for whoever is in charge whereas having them all in the same livery would make it way easier to adapt the trams to the situation and repurpose some if needed.

Very nice! I love the urban ferry line, it’s so cool to see movement on the river like that. I really like the boxwood tree park- I would call it a “semi-formal garden”, just because it’s not perfect and straight. With a lawn like that in a city, you would probably a central gazebo/pavilion or a fountain, and I’m sure you would have people flying kites or sunbathing on towels on the lawn. It’s a really neat neighborhood around it.
@TheRealUnconnected

I wouldn't worry about close ferry stops. Here in Sydney we have ferry stops so close you could easily swim the distance. But we also have a ferry service that is much like busses, with most stations about 5 mins apart. Along with a few longer 45 min trips for specific routes that use larger boats ( the exact same as the default ferry asset actually!)
@Annatar3469

Nice episode as always. It would be nice to see a post-renaissance château with a French garden where the local nobility used to live in a future build. Also for the manicured park you have built, the extremely well maintained rectangular trees form an odd contrast to the rough terrain grass, so as has already been suggested manicured grass decals would make it look better.

@Strictoaster 17:16 A lot of European Cities with an old history (somehow middle age or even earlier) mostly have a non symmetric appearance. So thats what i like about it. Of course US-Cities are structured like a chessboard - sometimes it gets really boring i think. I am from Germany and i love to walk around the old parts of a historical town. Even though Nydal is a fantasy build which just has to look european-familiar i got to like it. At first i was a bit skeptical at all but you are doing a good job so far - keep going :)

Honestly, as soon as I saw the cubic trees I immediately thought about two things: statues and fountains! They would make for a perfect baroque garden/italian garden (right now I have Padua's Prato della valle in my mind). But at the same time, I don't know if that fits with general style of Nydal parks. Maybe you should go for a really really polished garden, almost like a monument or so. I don't know, just some random thoughts :D

I'm not sure how I made it work, but I remember managing to fix the height thing with the ferry stops in one of my own games. Either it was selecting the road and moving that, or the building itself, somehow. Otherwise try placing it at a flat area of the river, then move it; maybe the road will be fixed then.

Luvin’ your work as usual Strict! Yes, the game’s basic mechanics for ferries is a bit clunky but you have squeezed the best anyone could out of them and I loved your minimalist little ferry stops. I gotta say I was saddened to hear you having to defend your pronunciation and to see a couple of other mindless comments below about very minor errors. Ignore them. Your English expression is brilliant, including when discussing complex technical stuff that these small-minded nit-pickers in their mono-cultural backwaters wouldn’t even appreciate. You hear all sorts of accents/styles on CS channels and yours is one of the clearest - you hell beat some for whom English is their *first* language! It’s the content we are here for anyway and yours is superb.

That manicured tree area looks better than I thought it would, but I still personally don't like that styling anywhere anytime. Topiary stylings are far too "ritzy" and French in style, which is why I really dislike it quite strongly. Comes off as very pretentious, very high & mighty, and obsessive over how outsiders precieve you and your status to me. But it sort of works in the end in this township. After all, the rule is "you never know until you try", right? haha.
