Mark. Take it from a sixty one year old fisherman. Small hooks catch small fish the best as well as large fish. Bigger hooks can't catch small fish and only catch big fish.

Hello, Mark! I have ever eaten Haya simmered with sugar and shoyu sold in Ueda Station or Koinishi (鯉西), but I have not eaten karaage. Although I usually cook freshwater fish as miso soup or simmered fish, I will cook with karaage next time. There is not fishing right in a creek, but, if you do fishing in a main stream of river, you should buy fishing ticket.

Hey Mark, love the videos! Quick tip, I fish a very similar setup for trout. Try to make sure that the line is always tight, meaning there shouldn’t be any coils in your line. This will help you set the hook easier and give you a better feel for when they bite 😊
