Urban Strike Longplay (Sega Genesis) [QHD]

Developed by Granite Bay Software/Hi-Tech Systems and published by Electronic Arts in 1994
The third and final game in the 16-bit Strike trilogy continues the fight against former drug baron Carlos Ortega, now operating under the guise of media empire mogul H.R. Malone, bringing down his empire in a fight over the skies of the concrete jungle.
For whatever reason, Urban Strike just seems to lack the spark that made the first two games so great. It's not a bad game, just a bit mediocre in my opinion; the new "on-foot" battles aren't particularly entertaining, and the missions and structure feel less lovingly crafted, for some reason.
As with my other longplays in this series, I've added chapters for each mission and objective.

Loved watching my dad play this game. He's not dead (yet) but we don't talk for...reasons. Regardless, this game is a cherished piece of nostalgia for me. Thanks for this. Great gameplay

Good play through and awesome video quality. You should have used the blackhawk though in the first mission. Its a little slower but can carry way more people. I'm glad you rescued "Legal" first though and way cool, you found Elvis in Hawaii and in the Las Vegas casino. ^_^

Ah, one of my favorite games. Way easier to get into than Jungle Strike for me. Also, I just love the MEEDLY MEEDLY MEEDLY Guitar riff at 0:20

You wonder in the Vegas phase of this whether all those money bags you collected were worth anything, even a memorial fund to Ego’s family, or compensation for having your Hawaiian vacation cut short. You also hope the Commander gave you back pay for emergency duty (and getting your vacation cut short).

You only got 19 of the 20 survivors on mission 2 tho...which is actually why I'm here, trying to see if anyone else was able to find all 20 but still no luck yet. I even read one of those old school text walkthroughs which pointed out they were only able to find 19 as well, but being a completionist I'm having A LOT of trouble accepting that and moving on... I mean think about it, they specifically made the seat capacity of the transport chopper 20 and then laid out the objective in mission 2 to rescue 20 survivors, and what, somehow no one noticed there was only 19 when testing the game? After ALL the testing that games go through before being released?!?! But who knows, maybe quality control wasn't as stringent in '93..

You know, I just thought of something. This game came out in 1994 if I remember correctly, the plot is set in the future 2001, and the plot of the game has the terrorist attacking the twin towers with his superweapon. Very spooky coincidence if I do say so.

What something even more spooky? The wikipedia site for this game describes the main villain as a billionaire media mogul who ran for President of US and lost but still remained popular among many Americans. He plots revenge on the government possibly to try and take back power. (Donald Trump was host of NBC "The Apprentice" and managed Miss Universe for many years - having a big chuck of the media market).

There was an unsuccessful terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 1993. They parked a truck bomb in the basement of the north tower hoping to blow out the foundations and knock it over, but it didn't work. (The bomb went off, but it was either too weak or in the wrong place to bring the building down.) So there's actually a lot of fictional terrorist attacks on the WTC in a whole bunch of 90's entertainment media. It's not even a coincidence, exactly--the 1993 attack may even have given bin Laden the idea to attack it again in 2001.

Yep - the first level is usually what most people remember, so that's what I tend to use for thumbnails (unless the first level is really boring!) :)

At 1:22:37: Mission 06: Destroy Choppers. Why When I go to the choppers, I get a "Danger Zone" warning? This means the choppers are super powerfull including the land guns.

If we are to one day see a Strike Collection on the Evercade, how can Urban Strike be edited to not include any post-911 questionable content? On the subject of Desert Strike, I'd include the Master System version, simply because it can be played in French, German and Spanish as well as English!

2022 and I'm looking for a game like this but can't find any. If only someone can come up with a remastered version with better graphics and more missions, helicopters, etc. This series was epic. Or at the least, make a helicopter version of Ace Combat.

Strange that Desert Strike was the first game and Jungle Strike followed by Urban Strike, both with significantly worse graphics. It seems that they got the order reversed. US then JS then DS!
