Composting your kitchen waste is an easy way to cut down on the amount of garbage that your home produces, and is one way to start living more sustainably.
And the best part?
You end up with a fantastic soil amendment which provides everything your plants need to grow happy and healthy
Worm composting is using worms to recycle food scraps and other organic material into a valuable soil amendment called vermicompost, or worm compost. Worms eat food scraps, which become compost as they pass through the worm's body. Compost exits the worm through its' tail end. This compost can then be used to grow plants. To understand why vermicompost is good for plants, remember that the worms are eating nutrient-rich fruit and vegetable scraps, and turning them into nutrient-rich compost.
You should use red worms or red wigglers in the worm bin. The scientific name for the two commonly used red worms are Eisenia foetida and Lumbricus rubellus.

When my granddaughter was in fourth grade she and I raised worms in our garage for her science fair project. She had so much fun doing it and was very diligent making sure her worms were cared for every day! I could not believe how fast they went through the scraps!! That was 15 years ago and she is now grown and lives on her own.. She still talks about this project all the time! By the way, she took the grand prize in her science fair for her worm project!

that is supposed to be a swappable layer bed. top layer would be the new bed with the fresh compost so the worms would travel to the top layer after finishing the first buttom layer. that way harvest would be easier and lest mortality for the worms

In this video, the top bin wasn't in use. It should be swappable with the middle bin. When the ANC is working in the middle bin, you have to stack the top bin with kitchen wastes. As time goes by the kitchen wastes on the top bin would decompost. Meanwhile, after eating and converting the wastes in the middle bin, the ANC will look for food to eat and they will move to the top bin. This time, you can easily harvest the vermicasts in the middle bin and, thereafter put the bin to the top ready for stacking again for a new batch of kitchen wastes. The process is repeated in this way.

Well managed (not overwatered) worm bins will NOT have that much tea. It is ideal for there to be very little to no tea, as all that moisture is bad for worms, and your vermicompost was very wet. It should be like potting soil, somewhat structural but loose. But, great video, well made

@@advocaterishitamall I would avoid using leachate at all if you can make proper compost tea. Leachate contains bacteria that are not safe for consumption (that have not been through the worm digestion) and goes off fairly fast (foul smell). From my understanding leachate can be used very diluted on trees and some plants, but never on leaf crops that you directly eat. I'm not sure as his setup is different from most worm bins I've seen but a worm bin shouldn't do too much leachate in general as the worm bedding should be moist but not "too wet" so it drips.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From AYODHYA, UP-INDIA I use to made it by lot egg shells, vegetable wastes, all fruits wastes, paper scraps, a lot of raw and ripen banana peels, grass, dung, turmeric and cinnamon powder, some little part of citrus plant leaves and wastes excluding it's peels to maintain pH level and some little size fishes, neem cake, mustard cake and readymade micronutrients available by various names(I use MULTIPLEX) in the market and others etc. Result becomes extremely excellent. But u r providing very good thing to people. Bravo Long Live. God bless U. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The 2 ingredients obtained are liquid organic fertilizer, composted organic fertilizer, and I use this system, just like nature, very good.

Omg I'm so glad your video was recommended! Ordering this will be so much easier than building one. And I love how it's set up to create compost tea. Saving this video. Thank you! 🌿💚 Edit: is there a way to change the currency on the website to USD?

One question though: do you ever put anything in the upper bin right under the lid?
@urbangardeningofficial
@urbangardeningofficial 2 жыл бұрын
Once first bin is full ..you can fill second bin with scraps n bedding ...worms will migrate from bottom to up or up to bottom through the drainage holes 👍

I “see” the systems of energies related to our physical/non-physical selves and how we create our reality. Plus how Divine, Universal, and Source energies connect to the wholeness of who we are as multidimensional Beings. 7th chakra merkabah activation is occurring. I use Jin Shin Jyutsu to facilitate moving energy as well as intent. Learning from Metatron.
