Traveling to Uruguay is not always on the top of everyone's South America itinerary, but it is definitely a place you shouldn't skip. From incredible steaks and chivito sandwiches to wonderful Tannat wine to wonderful beaches on Punta del Esta and historic Colonia there is a lot to see and do including visiting the Capital Montevideo and heading out into the campo and enjoying the country side. Tourism and travel information for Uruguay.

There's a lot of very poor travel videos on youtube. Wolters World isn't one of them. You can tell he knows his stuff and is a pleasure to watch. I'm planning a trip to Uruguay and this has been a good reinforcement of stuff I'd already picked up and a great guide to stuff I hadn't. Tannat being one! :)

Uruguay is a great country to visit. I lived and vacationed in Uruguay since I was a teenage. Definitely the best time to visit Uruguay is during the summer, it gets really hot like if you were in South Florida. Try to catch a soccer game while in Uruguay, Estadio Centenario is a stadium where many big matches (Peñarol, Nacional, or the Uruguayan National Team) play their games. It is also where the first World Cup Final was played in 1930! Pretty cool fact! Probably the best way to get there from the states is flying into Miami and taking American Airlines nonstop to Montevideo.

I made a friend in Uruguay and she had friends who owned several cabañas in Punta del Diablo. Since it was winter and they had no renters, they allowed us to stay in one of the cabañas for two nights free. Even in the winter it was a very nice place to stay and I got to make more friends while there.

@Unknown Infinium Chile ranks way safer than states like California and Texas alone, so you should be fine, especially on chile's rural/nature sides and smaller towns where petty crimes are very rare or non-existent. The major countries you can go to Latin America in my experience and knowledge are uruguay, chile, Argentina, El Salvador (currently), and maybe Costa Rica. These Latin America countries aren't nearly as dangerous as Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, dominican Republic,Venezuela, etc... (basically avoid or extreme precautions).

I love your channel. I have a question for you since you're such an accomplished traveler and I respect your opinion. I'm American, and my husband is Colombian. My 180 days ran out and I'm now back home. My question is where would you suggest my husband and I can travel to together, so we can stay together while waiting for his spousal visa to be approved for America. We don't want to stay in Colombia, it's become way to dangerous. We were thinking of Mexico, but I don't know if things will change with the country having spikes in covid. We just want to be somewhere affordable and a little safer than Colombia. I have always been afraid of travel restrictions changing too, because my husband I both do not want anything to do with the vaccine. At worse we'd rather be stranded together instead of stranded apart, so we need to pick some place to go to soon. Where would you suggest? I love the prices in Thailand, but the tickets are very expensive! Thank you :)

I want to know about living costs on the US dollar. I saw a video recently about rental aparments. The units were not rented with common appliances such as a refrigerator. I took that example to be the general case. One must buy large, not portable appliances to live in a rented apartment in Montevideo. These appliances are imported from foreign manufacturers - not made in Ura. That means import duties in the price tag, installation charges, and who knows what else. Do you rent on a year's lease or month to month? I don't know. What do you do with your little toy when you want to leave? You have then to sell it. That may not be easy. How does one inform himself about such routine matters in Uruguay when he is not in Uruguay? Are there real estate agents one can consult who speak English?
