I was surfacing from a dive on Tablerock Lake in Missouri, I heard the whir of turbines, looked up to see an A-10 just coming over the treetops and out over the lake, the leaves from the trees circled and fell. The pilot saw me and immediately did a low altitude 360 above me, gave a salute and off he went down the Kings River. God Bless these men, and the A-10!

Hell yeah, the A-10 pilots did the same for us down in Reeves, LA and they flew out of England AFB in Alexandria, LA back in the 80s. Around the same time the first Top Gun came out. My Dad, who was a Vietnam Vet, took me to see Mr. Cruise in 1985 in Fort Polk. I am the Son a Warrior and I am a Sailor/Full Stack Cloud Engineer. If the Navy Drafted me today it would have to send me deep underground to work with my fellow spooks in the coding world. I got my Bachelor's Degree via the GI Bill. If you want to be a Black Project like me, join the Navy and go to University while you are in and after you get out. STEM is in very high demand. Be a force multiplier.

We used to have A-10's in CT and growing up it was a familiar sound roaring over the tree line on the approach to Bradley International Airport. But the real spectacle of A-10's was over the reservoir behind my house when I first got married. That is when the fun really happened with low pass fly-bys and acrobats that the jocks would perform. It was like our own private air show.

Those guys from Bradley and Barnes would fly up north over Hamden Ponds in Easthampton where my brothers and I would canoe a lot as kids. There was a culvert under a road that connected the two ponds, and when we heard those guys coming we would paddle like crazy to hide in the culvert. If we made it before they flew over we 'won', but if they caught us in the open they won and would rock their wings. The game usually lasted only a couple runs, but that was enough to exhaust us. I've never felt an adrenalin rush like hearing that engine whine coming down between my shoulder blades

While you at it send the South African "Rooikat" armoured car - will chase down anything that moves at high speed, they will not know what hit them - equipped 76mm or 105mm Canon. Did I mentioned it has anti-aircraft options as well. Tested at our zero-tech testing facility and clocked at 174km/h around the high speed track - nevermind the all terrain capabilities as well - how do I know this?? Build, maintained and upgraded them. You think us "Boertjies" can't build anything hey?? We sorted the Russians and Cubans in Africa while stil developing the hardware. Before you send the Thunderbolts send in our G6 Mobile 155mm Canon - will blast them from a range of 74km away and reach speeds of 120km/h on normal roads - we shot while we move - we have no time to stop for minutes to prepare and arm. Will never see nothing coming!! Then we send the A-10's We get rid of this "problem" permanently. 😳🤨👍

Of course it is my very most favoritist bird ever but it is not fair to class the BlackBird with lesser birds. My father was a hardcore Marine & lucky survivor in the South Pacific theatre in WW2, the US ground troop losses on the many island campaigns in that part of the Pacific Theatre were astronomical, Even after days or weeks of relentless ship to shore pounding and pulverising the island from the air & from battleships to soften them up, they were in for a major shock, maybe even a bit over confident when the men got their boots on the ground of the island & heading inland finding their adversaries still intact & often unscathed. Though the creation of A10 was 30 some years after the fact & i imagine at the time designed of similar close & personal combat in the Vietnam conflict, which ended before the A10 could be deployed into service & another 15 years went by before the A10 could prove its amazing usefulness and extreme durability. Now a much loved and totally respected asset to all ground troops who have seen it in action, and their lives saved by this aircraft.

It's one of the big reasons the USA Air Force needs to relax the fixed wing ban they put on the USA Army. Let the Army pilots fly these and AC-130s (and their successors, whatever they will be) alongside their CAS helicopters that way the Air Force can quit complaining about using their budget on programs that solely support another service. The Marines have their fixed wing program, so should the Army.

I live about 15 minutes from a place known as "Star Wars Canyon" by military pilots or Rainbow Canyon for us who live in the immediate area near Death Valley Ca. Pretty famous place to watch military planes of every conceivable type navigate at high speed through that deep winding canyon. Of all the different aircraft i have seen fly through Star Wars Canyon in the past 50 years , by far the A10 is the most amazing of them all. Looking rather bulky and cumbersome & not a speed queen by any means compared to modern units, it is anything but that. Easy to see why ground troops have such love & respect for this as air support. The sound of the massive zip gun in the nose of the plane is surreal..& to be at the receiving end of this close and personal attack unit, if survived would be something to fear above all else..To mothball the A10 just because of it's age or technology would be a very poor decision. I am sure both the infantry who depend on low altitude air support and A10 pilots themselves would fully agree that there is nothing else in the militaries arsenal that can do that hands on, close up and personal job and take masssive damages & abuse as the A10 has proven itself most capable of. In the beginning of the Ukrainian fiasco with 20 mile long Russian convoys stalled out, I imagined a few squadrons of A10's properly based for reaarmement and refuel would have made very short work of those lame ducks in a row and then some. Of coarse our direct involvement i such a geopolitical/ civil war or conflict such as this one in Ukraine would likely have been a shortcut to the unthinkable.

At the time I enlisted, my recruiter sent me a copy of Airman magazine. On the cover was the ugliest aircraft I’d ever seen. In basic, we were shown a video of the A-10 on a training mission. I thought it would be cool to work around those aircraft. Instead I spent most of my career around the second ugliest aircraft in the AF inventory, the B-52. It’s a shame the AF got rid of the Tigershark nose art.

@@cobra6953 Yeah, AF has a bad habit of tinkering with morale building when in ‘peacetime.’ During the first gulf war, they authorized nose art for the B-52s. Crews did a great job of paying homage to the bomber crews of WWII. Once everything calmed down…no more nose art.

Ahh, Davis Monthan AFB, the Boneyard. Quick question.. Why don't they get those tankers sitting out there and convert them to water tankers and use them for air drops of water on the fires burning the West Coast?? I can't se that it would be that much of a modification and it would save complete towns from the fires that have destroyed them the past few years. All they are now is parts donors but, if you go on Google Earth and look at the overhead vide, that's a TON of spare parts.. The whole West Coast is dryer than a popcorn fart.. Each year we add on a few more days of over 100 degree temperatures. Make the conversion cost at a totally crazy price and we'd get the president to thro taxes at it in a heatbeat.. My father was a Korean War vet and put in 21 years in the Army, I did 20 years in the Air Force and my older son AND his wife are doing 20 years in the Air Force as well. One thing that really bothers me is the phrase "Thank you for your service." OK, that and the variations they're doing of the flag I served for 20 years. The stripes on MY flag were Red and White. No yellow stripes, no black stripes, no blue stripes.. If you want to fly a flag, fly the right one.. and before you just say "Thank you for your service", ask them what service, maybe what the did in that service.. Actually talk to them, you might find out they were in the same service as one of your relatives or even the same place.. That would mean so much more to a vet than a 5 word comment that really has no meaning. One thing I do is carry some of those American Flag Pins and when I see a vet with a hat on that showed his service and he doesn't have a flag on it, I say Thank you brother and while I'm shaking his hand, I'm palming a flag pin he can put on his hat.

Pretty much useless against a MBT though,. They can only DMG the rear engine cover. Against a modern air defence system - they just would NOT fly. It would be suicide.

Sticking right out of the nose is the GAU-8 Avenger 30-mm hydraulically driven seven-barrel Gatling-type cannon that fires a 30mm round made from depleted uranium. This gun was designed to kill... tanks, trucks, artillery or anything else in its path.

When first in service the gas coming out of the barrels after each round of the .30 cals would ignite. Quite impressive to watch a fire belching Warthog raining serious lead on ground targets. Sadly they rethought the propellant to stop this from happening.

The Abrams tank of the sky. Helicopters are great, but they can't take a fraction of the ground fire these can. They can dish it out too.

The A-10 is a grunts dream during a battle. Any Warthog pilot who deployed and covered the marines or soldiers in fight, drink for free on our bases. That's the least they get their infantry brothers. Semper Fi

Steve Jobs would say Fonts matter...since I'm not him but love your video...Fonts matter...especially the color to the back drop. Black font is not always the best when you look at lighting and environment. Not a knock just (hopefully) constructive criticism that makes your products better as I am sure you can.
