So true, I believe one’s ready really only goes on the surface of the Special Warfare pipeline, the simple excuse that it’s confidential information is BS. They really can just be vague on what they went through on the job without giving specific locations names or classified information. I think viewers would like to know if they have ever encountered real life dangers or situations on the job and how they had to overcome them. After all not everything will remain the same and it’s best to just provide what you have gone through (with filtration of sensitive info.) Yet I feel like these guys are too vague, often times the info they can’t provide I find online on reddit or other sources. One’s Ready is really just a mainstream platform.. no hate I just see room for improvement.

I switched to my personal account for this one because I don't want to speak for our unit, but we AFSPECWAR need to create a small unit tactics (SMUT) course as the first training block post A&S. This way, all SW operators have the same solid foundation. PJs and CCT guys going through OTC have differing levels of basic tactical skills; I argue it's because they learn them at different places. Let's bring the basics to everyone at the same time then split off for specialty skills!!! Trey

The AF should have a smut that's based on Army Ranger small unit fighting organization and tactics as that's basically the min std for Army SF that AF goes to war with. It should also be extended to AF security units that are so critical to asset protection.

First off I got to say thanks for talking about these subjects so in depth. I can't wait to see this channel grow over the next year. I was unsure of what I wanted to do in the Air Force until I came across this channel and heard you guys describe the roles and the type of people who fit those roles. However I've gotten mixed responses in regards to if you should pursue a role as a CCT/PJ/SR as soon as join the Air Force. I've been told that it may be better to wait until you can retrain for various reasons. What are your guys thoughts on joining and waiting vs joining right off the street?

Thank you guys for this video. I was a conventional WX weeny for 20 years and got to work with the 26 STS SOWT on WX training as a contractor while the transition to SR was just getting underway. So, I got to do some cool training like avalanche 1 and soil class in MS. It was a great contractor job. My question is the SR career field still doing tactical surface obs and riverine training? IMO those skill sets would definitely benefit the SR environmental data collection. I think the direction you guys are going in SR is a good thing plus the better integration within the STSs.

I'm really having a hard time choosing between going weather technician or trying to go for special reconnaissance. Any advice both welcomed, and appreciated.
@altairadelais3673

By weather technician do you mean regular Air Force weather man or SOWT? SR is the rebranded SOWT AFSC so you wouldnt have a choice there really. If you're meaning a regular USAF weather guy then there's a very large difference. You can choose to go the tough route and train your balls off and go through a long ass pipeline for a funny hat and not regret a minute of it, or you can take it easy and go through a normal tech school and have a normal job and be content with where you are. Nothing wromg with it but they are very, very different careerfields for very different people.

I'm a nerd and couldn't decide between PJ and CCT but now seeing/hearing what SR is all about I'm all in. Do they have any prep courses or can I contact the 330th Recruiting Squadron to learn more and be better prepared? I live in San Antonio and they are right down the road.

@@Michael-id3vx No. I got offered a good career opportunity but the company that picked me up went out of business. I got a lot of good experience from it though. Still unemployed at the moment so I'm going to start working out and talking with a recruiter once I can hit their goals comfortably.

I have watched all about CCT, PJ, and SR nearly all the videos on this channel and im more confused than ever on which one i want to go for. All of them have such awesome interesting capabilities and skill sets. Is there any in particular thats needing more man power heading into 2023? Or is there an opportunity to switch if one does need more man-power earlier in the pipeline? Well later in the podcast they talked about this specifically haha

I’m not in AFSOC or even in the AF but I can tell you that right now, right after GWOT there is some downsizing going on. Rightfully so. I’m not saying it’s gonna be a massive thing but optempo is down significantly across all of the DOD so take from you want from that. DOD will ALWAYS need highly skilled people to fill the ranks, don’t get it twisted

How common is it to have your job chosen for you, and to cross-train into this career field? If I don’t get this job before my first enlistment, I want to choose it later. Could it work that way for my life path?

Just out of curiosity how easy is it to transfer from army to airforce in order to go to selection for this? I’m a scout now and i’m super interested in SR as a whole.

What happened 2 all the CWT? Did they get 2 go out for SR? But I no there was more schools in the Pipeline, like,CCT/PJ. When they go out, do they go with a team, of other SR, or do they attachv, 2 like a SFODA?

I know someone other than the Ones Ready crew can answer this. Are their officers for SR? i only see info regarding CRO and STO. Thanks in advance, any info is appreciated 🙏 Also, does anyone know if there's waivers for the age cutoffs? There are for things like SEAL and SF. Thanks 👍
