I’m wondering how old this MOS is? In my Youth I was an AMGA Climbing Guide & taught Basic RockCraft at the local State College & there appears to be crossover & touchstones in skill sets. The water component always seems to be the killer (sink like lead weight) I’m sure this MOS attracts a certain personality type

Before going to a recruiter should we pass the ift minimum or can we join a dev program to help with our IFT numbers?

You can speak to a recruiter in advance and then you will get put into the development program. If you are struggling on your own it would be good to speak to a recruiter and work on this with a group/in a development program. - SrA Gant

If signing on with the Airforce and wanting only to be a SERE specialist, what are the chances for acquiring that MOS as your given training for AIT? Scoring 85 on office intake , but haven’t taken ASVAB. Thank you in advance.

If you sign a SERE contract then that’s where you’re going. Of course unless you’re medically unqualified, quit or don’t make it. You need a special warfare recruiter to help you with that otherwise a regular recruiter will try to convince you to take another job.

@@liakogogidze2933 You don’t need to be in touch with one, you just need your recruiter to get you a contract for SERE, and that should be established before you swear into to Air Force at meps. Ask your recruiter if sere is in your list of qualifications.

What is the length of contract for a SERE Specialist typically? And what are the bonus incentives currently? Also interested in reserve or or Air national guard, im in Seattle 98074, prior Navy, E4 in a technical submarine rating/MOS. Would my rank,etc.? Thanks!

Does everyone who chooses SERE as a job, get stationed at Fairchild for a couple years first? Or is it possible to go to another unit after AFSC schooling.

15 years ago I broke my collarbone. It has healed and does not affect my mobility or ability to perform pull-ups. Would I still be able to enter this career?

This could potentially be medically disqualifying. However, the doctor at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) makes that determination. Your local recruiter can have your medical records for this condition prescreened by the doctor at MEPS for a preliminary ruling in your situation. It is routine during the screening process that all applicants are asked in-depth questions about their medical history. Just like other medical matters such as broken bones or asthma, we would request medical paperwork for the Chief Medical Officer to review for a determination Don Air Force and Space Force Recruiting Service

Not necessarily. There is no self defense prerequisites that are mandatory, but there are many self-defense specialists positions within SERE that they can apply for. MSgt Voss and SSgt Spathias.

@@maxcox2661 had a big ego and didn’t think to ask my team for help when I needed it leading me to really bad sleep dep. I realized too late that selection is just as much of a test to see how well you do working as a team, as your performance as an individual. The PT was manageable, but the nightly tasks require incredible time management skills. You need to work with your team to find creative ways to complete certain tasks faster than the oftentimes purposefully inefficient ways the cadre show (while maintaining maximum quality). I could go into every little detail about my experience but they’re constantly changing things over there so it wouldn’t be much help. Just remember that you are being assessed based on more than just your personal performance. Be close with your team and always be willing to do more

MountainMuleMan, prior service applicants must contact a recruiter to see if they qualify. The Prior Service (PS) program is an enlistment program allowing a select number of separated individuals to return to active duty in limited careers. Which process are you interested in = the Enlisted Prior Service or the Officer (US citizen with a bachelor degree with a 2.5 GPA) process? Are you interested in one of our Special Warfare careers? I hear it can be hard to get respect as an instructor with no deployments because you’ve only been trained with scenarios and not the ‘real thing’? You’re training people doing the real thing when you haven’t been deployed into the real situations only scenarios..

@@labyrinth2lotus thanks for your input. I do have an idea and know various people that have relations with sere specialist. The latest input that influenced my question was from a infantryman who also went through SERE. It’s a real opinion of thought from a real soldier who’s been deployed. Take it or leave it.
