New York Times* Early in the morning, an Army of 150 Cuban Infantrymen attempted to make ground, and retake Fort Aquasalev from the American's, as the Fort was providing Artillery support to the U.S. Ground forces fighting elsewhere on Guarma. The Cuban Army faced Heavy Artillery Fire, and Fierce Maxim Gun fire, and sustained heavy casualties in the process of getting close to the Fort. The Cuban forces then made some sort of Ball around the outskirt of the Fort, and were slowly picking off the U.S. Soldiers going near the Battlements, and This ensured heavy casualties for the U.S., which resulted in only 2 Remaining Soldiers left in the Fort. The Fort Commander, Colonel Lawrence Anderson, and 21 year old Maxim Gunner, Pvt. Matthew Colson. Colson was Rewarded with a Bronze Star due to him Inflicting 47 Cuban Casualties, and him having the Courage to hold his position even when sustaining 2 Gunshot wounds to the Stomach, 1 to the leg, 2 to the Right arm and Surviving. The Colonel managed to Tend to the Injured soldiers inside the Fort while Colson suppresed the Cuban Forces, Anderson was able to Mend 4 Soldiers Injuries, and was the Ultimate Reason why The U.S. won that Battle. This was a Costly Battle for the U.S., but a victorious one, and a Battle that made 2 Heroes.

in the first battle of the cuban rebellion broke out on the fairly small island of guarma when the large cuban infantry volunteer unit sent a wave of about 30 men (0:05) to storm the local american held fort under the orders of general alberto fussar although only a small amount of soldiers were there gaurding the fort because most of them had went home to see there family for christmas they still fought hard gunning down the cubans with cannons and a gatling gun although the gatling gun would be knocked out early in the battle(0:37). while the cubans struggled to get up the hill to the main part of the fort a second wave arrived and was almost wiped out by a single cannon shot shortly after stepping on the beach(1:30) the americans now having to deal with a fresh new wave of cubans began to feel overwhelmed but they had almost completely cleared the first wave of the bridge. (1:42) eventually one cuban made it up to the top of the fort he was shortly gunned down even though he was dead the americans began to fear that the rest of the cubans would follow his path and then they would be fighting two fronts and then it began to sink in that they might run out of ammo but at least they were making progress with the second wave only a few were still standing on the beach and slowly hope came back(2:09).even better news is that reinforcements came in and the gatling gun and all the other abandoned equipment was back in use(2:30) for the cubans it was going less well the last soldiers from the second wave were being gunned down. only one man was still at the bridge quickly joined by a man who was shot pushed off of the top of fort and some how survived together they made little progress(3:47). but the cuban hope cant last long because the two were shot down by the gatling gun(4:27)but at least the flank was going pretty good and eventually there were only 3 americans left standing on the top of the fort(5:38)but also the cubans had bean wiped out by then fussar had gotten word of the failure of wave 1 and 2 to take the fort and was sending more men to the fort in the local town of agausdulces men were saying good bye to there family getting on a boat never to be seen again part 2 in the replys

A few minutes later the second wave attacked the fort at 5:51 if raged on for hours including many deaths and many sacrifices but at 7:54 it ended with another victory by the Americans.
