The very first premise of this video is wrong. The USA isn't sending cluster BOMBS. They are sending cluster 155mm shells. Totally different. Both sides were already using cluster munitions anyway.

Almost every statement in this video is factually incorrect. They aren't sending cluster BOMBS to deal with tanks. They are sending cluster 155mm SHELLS to deal with infantry.

Entrenched infantry? That makes no sense. If it's used for defensive purposes to hold back attacking troops, maybe, but not for offense. What saddens me is how people are now claiming this desperate act which has been admitted as such by the president ("we have no more 155 rounds, this is temporary till we get a new one", not verbatim) is now branded as the new wonder weapon.

@@FXGreggan. No it is not. Each bomblets has a low explosive power, and it is spread within a wide area which may or may not land inside the trenches. When it does, not all of it will explode. Some will be duds. The one the US has is a very old stockpile, and the thing about old stockpiles is that it is less effective because most of them would have been past their shelf life and tends to not work properly. Modern artillery is much more accurate, which makes the regular high explosive fragmentation rounds to be way more effective at clearing trenches, especially the zig zag ones, as well as protected pillboxes compared to clusters. The clusters are also ineffective against modern armor. The problem is the unexploded ordnance, which will pose a risk to civilians after the war is over. This is why it was banned.

@@FXGreggan. I can provide sources to prove to you that isn't the case. Like i said, modern artillery is much more accurate due to better coordinate finding and correction through the use of drones and satellites. Cluster bombs are made for flat ground and hilly terrain, not entrenched soldiers. It performs even worse in a forested area. The question is, do you have academic sources to back up that claim? Words from random officials/politicians don't count, they talked sht they know nothing about all the time.

Cluster bombs are low quality weapons with respect to 155 artillery shells, for several reasons, including the collateral problems described in the video. They are useless against armored opponents, also.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Ukraine has been using them against civilian targets and Donetsk with the tacit and hypocritical permission of the United States and England. For example, on March 14, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used a tactical missile "Tochka-U" with a cluster munition in a densely populated quarter of the city of Donetsk. The Armed Forces of Ukraine started using cluster munitions back in 2014. But under pressure from HRW, they promised not to use it anymore.

Ukraine has already gained more territory than Russia did in its winter counteroffensive. Russia has not had a net territorial gain for over a year. Do a Google search. Ukrainian progress is slow, no doubt. But on net Ukraine has been advancing for over a year. The last two successful counteroffensives were fought by Ukraine last fall: Kharkiv and Kherson. Russia has continuously lost territory on net for over a year. Doesn't sound like Ukraine is advancing toward Kiev. To me you sound like someone who has no idea what is going on 😂

The US isn't low on 155mm shells. It's low on the 155mm standard shells it feels comfortable giving to Ukraine. As the US ramps up production, it's using the cluster munitions to cover the gap. The US has ramped up to 24k shells a month already and are ramping up to 80k shells a month asap. They've stated they only need cluster munitions to cover a few months. Neither the US or Ukraine is going to run out of ammunition. You can find everything I just said in official government press briefings.

First, cluster bombs for ukraine might not be very effective as they dont have a credible airforce to launch thos bombs.... Second, cluster munitions through artillery is what mostly ukraine is accepting. But this nato rounds are 155mm and cannot be fired by ukraines' numerous soviet era 152mm guns.. Ukraine has far more fewer western artillery guns

Maybe they could put two fuses in these bombs, so that if a bomblet doesn't hit its target it will self destruct a few minutes later. Maybe there are other ways we could program these bomblets to self destruct if they didn't detonate the way we wanted on the battlefield. .... Russia had been using them already in Ukraine. Ukraine retaliated and used them as well just to keep up. As said many times, both countries didn't agree NOT to use them by treaty or agreement vs one another. It's Ukrainian soil, so if Ukrainians don't have a problem with them being used, then I don't see the problem here since Ukrainians have to clean it all up afterwards anyways once Russia loses.

Russia is NOT going to permit the use of these munitions against it’s forces long. Expect missiles like hail on Ukrainian cites, including Kiev, soon. Russia’s best defense is a speedy end to criminal Zelensky regime, without any further regard for civilian casualties. Any civilian there now, knew the inevitable, and stayed anyway. So be it.

Who ever writes your script is biased towards the Russian perspective. It is NOT an act of desperation for Ukraine to use cluster munitions!! It is an act of Self Preservation against an invading force on a Sovereign Nation. Beside, Russia has already used cluster bombs, vacuum bombs, and phosphorus bombs against Ukrainian - all of which are considered illegal by international standards. Plus, Russia has killed thousands of Ukrainian civilians through the use of missile strikes on civilian targets. So, lets get real Military TV!! Ukraine, a sovereign nation functioning under a free and democratic government, is simply working to cleanse its land from an invading army that wants to absorb Ukraine into the Russian empire. Russia does attack the Ukrainian military units hiding amongst the civilian population, it does not target civilians.

they are not being used in civilian areas, unlike the aggressors and invaders. Taking out mines personnel and vehicles with fewer warheads.

The need for these controversial weapons shows once again that the Ukrainian counteroffensive is not going as well as hoped. A few months ago, Hodges promised that Ukraine would regain its territory, and with it the war, by autumn 2023. One can be skeptical. The Russians are not as stupid as some media make them out to be. Expensive long-range precision weapons are of no use against minefields and are too expensive for widespread use against trench systems. Himars can bring down bridges but not rebuild them.

Wanna know what the most extreme danger to Ukrainian civilians is? Russian soldiers occupying they're country... cluster munitions are infinitely less dangerous.
