even though everyone says ending is realistic, i highly disagree. Humans as a whole are greedy and power hungry. I doubt we would just give away our own specimen and assist in exploring our racial weaknesses. That would give the invaders the upper hand. What government would probably do is make sure we get our hands on their specimen at any cost, and reduce the number of abductions. The areas with supposed abductions wouldn't be in jurisdiction of a single officer, it would be the center of FBI and would be marked as a no-go zone for civilians. So in my humble opinion, ending is half-assed typical horror ending with not much thought/time put into it.
