As an American who has lived in China for 6 years I can say the chicken is where McDonald's really shines here. The spicy chicken sandwich and the wings are great. I have to say a lot of the chicken sandwiches from the US side I have never tried because last time I was in the US was pre-chicken sandwich war with Popeyes, etc. It seems like they've stepped it up a bit last time I was there the only option was like a plain crispy chicken sandwich or the McChicken which is just garbage.

When I was in China a couple years ago I actually really liked McDonald's. A lot of the ones I lived near had a little baked goods case with cake rolls and other goodies. right, i agree, it’s sad it even has to be said- the media in the west has been so relentless on the anti-China stuff it’s very refreshing to see something neutral (doesn’t even have to be positive! just neutral!) my family on both sides come from non-western (“2nd/3rd world”) countries that are often not given respect in media so i know how alienating it can be for regular people to have your country painted as negatively in mainstream media, especially by supposedly well meaning people who just can’t accept other cultures or systems but the one they grew up in!

I'm from Germany and the portion sizes in American McDonalds are quite astonishing. Our largest soda size is even smaller than the Chinese one. Last week I ate at McDonalds cause I was at an airport and got a HappyMeal. I chose plant-based nuggets, a small salad, an apple and pear soda (no unhealthy drinks options here either) and a frozen banana and strawberry ice cream (no added sugar). The whole thing was tasty and fairly healthy.

This is going to be another GREAT season! I always enjoy learning about other cultures through their (fast) food 👏 Was interesting to learn that “not too sweet” is a compliment, I’ll definitely keep that in mind next time!

I wish you could do the Austrian McDonald's menu, especially during the Christmas season! There's lots of unique items, such as heart-shaped cheese nuggets, lingonberry dips, interesting burgers like the McRösti (with a huge potato patty), etc etc. Also, for a long time, McCafé held the monopoly on fast food cafes (no Starbucks outside the capital until the 2010s!) so the options there are so massive. Besides the drinks, they also sell lots of cakes ❤

OMGGGG u guys did China! Im literally abt to cry loll, but srsly there just SO MANY new things in china in the fast food chains like KFC, mcdonalds and pizza hut, etc that are specifically designed for the Chinese taste that u can't find anywhere else!! Also they have new products every 2 weeks or so, it's so exciting and vibrant (compared to the UK where everything is just kinda always the same...... T T). Thanks so much and PLS do more of China!! It'll be worth it :D

Gah, you make me homesick for China once again! I was a teacher in Phoenix City, just east of Guangzhou for 3 years, had a Macca's (what we call it in Australia) right downstairs from my apartment. I swear they knew I was coming every morning as they always had the coffee pot ready for me lol. And you forgot the extra cool stuff- they had a starfruit soda that was life changing, and a couple of limited items was seaweed shaker fries around May each year (sooo good!) & curly battered fries around November (but they only sold them in small size, freaking annoying when they were SO good!). Oh, and Taiwan Macca's has BAGELS for breakfast!!!

This is really interesting, the McDonald's menu in China is totally different then those in Hong Kong and Macao. Breakfast is more similar to the US offerings except we do not have Mc Griddles & biscuits and but we have elbow macaroni in soup (one of the Hong Kong breakfast staples) and no congees (no one would go to Micky D's for Chinese style breakfast tbh). There's also an Mc Egg sandwich which was my favorite (basically a filet-o-fish sandwich replacing the fish for an round egg)
