The Battle Hymn of the Republic
1.

I'm not a religious man but the line "As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free." Shivers down the spine
@Alte.Kameraden
@Alte.Kameraden 9 ай бұрын
I think the best part about that line, states the end goal of the Union cause in the war, to liberate and free men and women who were in bondage and what better cause is there to die for? Lyrics for this song was literally written shortly after the American Civil War started. So was the song "John Brown's Body" which uses the same song just different lyrics. Sadly there are too many Americans who think the war had little to do with a "Peculiar Institution" as so many Southern Constitution's when they broke and joined the Confederate States of America enshrined. For Union boys there was never a question what the war was being fought for.

@@Alte.Kameraden And it's blindingly obvious if one looks anywhere at contemporary writings. The idea that the Civil War was over anything but slavery and the entrenchment of the planter elite's political power is a myth made up by later generations to excuse the actions of their ancestors.

Fun fact. The last verse was cut in its first prints and wasnt available until the authors death as she thought the previous verse's final line"as he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free" was a powerful enough line to end on.

Fun fact: The songwriter for "Battle Hymn of the Republic" - Julia Ward Howe - actually came up with the idea for the song after hearing a bunch of Union boys marching by singing "John Brown's Body" to the tune of "Glory Hallelujah". She thought it was uncouth so she rewrote it into the Battle Hymn. And, as you can tell, the lyrics are raw as hell.
@systemicpootishunt3448
@systemicpootishunt3448 10 ай бұрын
Actually "Glory Hallelujah" came around the same time as John Brown's Body. John Brown's Body is in the tune of a song called "Say, Brothers, Will You Meet Us." The Glory Halleluhah part was a more recent innovation (recent as in during and before the Civil War. Some say that "Say Brothers, Will you Meet us" (by the canaan shore) was from the enslaved African American tradition, but that very tune was pretty much widespread accross the United States.🤓

In many ways it was. I myself have the belief that while the war was fought by men, in a way it was also God’s judgment on us for allowing the evil of cruel, violent, slavery in our country. Sadly it took a war and many lives to end that. In some ways we are still very much connected to that time. Certain parts of the country have still never fully recovered after the war. Due to the way the government paid veterans after the war, the last person receiving those payments (a veteran’s daughter) died 4 years ago.

I love how you kept the Christian elements for the Japanese lyrics and added Christian artworks for the song. There're many people who are familiar with this song of the US, but most of them don't know what this song really is about. I saw other channels when they made their language adaption for the song, they tend to forget the Christian elements of the song and replaced it with something like "praise Lincoln" or such. In the United States, we don't worship the government, we worship god. This song means a lot to us, thank you for delivering a nice and beautiful Japanese lyrics for the song.

A civil war song? Who in the right mind would let a AI Japanese singer sing a song about the civil war? That sounds like something I'd never thought I'd hear but here I am putting it on loop.

Hes done quite a few civil war songs before this. imo this is one of the best versions the AI has done. You should also check out "Stars and Stripes Forever" by Rader Marshal, done with the same AI

@@Tenems941Union Dixie is lame wasn’t even part of the civil war it was made in the 60’s. Marching through Georgia is a better song

Maybe you should also do John Brown's Body since that was the song that inspired this one.

American copyrights are life of the author plus an additional 70 years. Julia Ward Howe died in 1910. But at the time copy right was only total 40 years from creation. So when it was writen in 1861 it would have fallen into public domain(and thus immune from copyright) in 1901.
