I’m wondering where all the German fans were? They used to fill the stands during international hockey no matter where it was. The whole crowd would be yellow and chanting the entire game. I feel like that’s a big part of what drives the German/European teams during their games, yet whenever anyone scored in this game I just saw people texting and not looking up, or wearing team Canada jerseys.

Lot of silky ginos for 🇺🇸, lol. A near flawless performance by them. Love the sportsmanship by Duke when Cimmerman got hurt, and love how the 🇨🇦 crowd showed love for 🇩🇪 when they were able to break the 🇺🇸 goalies egg.

They basically hung their goalies out to dry the whole tournament , They don't have the guns up front but they can at least play hard and defensive and the D coverage was a train wreck every game .

This would make its notable position in the hierarchy of hockey the reason it would be held in the light of "Standard" or "regulation". Nothing to do with whether or not it's the the best or not, or by any other factor, other than it's reach.

It didn't look like either team cared from the first goal. Germans (forwards) didn't really try to defend and USA didn't even seem to really celebrate the first goal or even the first few (after that it's understandable). And the same story until the end. Did everyone anticipate this level of miss-match from the jump? Weird hockey game to watch. Germany is not a first rate hockey nation but they have a couple of high end players and usually at least try hard.

@@bellch87 That part I know...I was just surprised that they accepted the fact they were outmatched and didn't even put up a fight or seem to care from the first goal they let in. Herb Brooks of Miracle on Ice fame would not have been impressed with that effort from the outset against a superior opponent (...like the USSR in 1980)

Players, send them home in disgrace, no excuse for such a pathetic waste of time as to give up two goals against a country like that, much less after the first game, losing. Good lord, if the people running Hockey Canada had half a clue as to how to structure things, we would not be capable of losing a game, there is far too much talent available for there to be excuses any longer.

without Russia in the tourney it is a diluted competition .. Russia not being there is like Canada not being there .. every medal winner will know it would have been different had Russia been there .. if they don't know it now they'll know it when a Russian player who wasn't in this tourney takes their spot in the NHL from them .. asterisks needed for sure for the WJC 2023 .. shame on the participating nations for jumping on bandwagons and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) for punishing innocent teenagers ..
