Valiant effort by Austria. I’m happy they got to score some goals and enjoy a competitive match for a change. Let’s hope this stimulates hockey growth in Austria. It was also very nice to see the audience celebrate the Austrian goals. Congrats to Germany on the win. See you guys tomorrow. Cheers to both teams from your neighbor 🇨🇿

Rakušanů mi bylo od začátku líto nejdřív chytili švédy pak kanadu a ještě nás… trochu jsem jim fandil ať mají alespoň jednu výhru🙂 Ale nakonec to byl vyrovnaný zápas takže gratulace Německu a go next🤙

This matchup will always be competitive - it’s very similar to that of Canada USA in a lot of ways. Though we get along and have good relations overall, we hate each other in sports events against each other.

You can tell that the fans were pulling for Austria to have something. Prompts to these kids for remaining calmer while down at least 9-0 thrice than the Americans did when down 5-3 once.

As a Canadian who watches a lot of NHL it is great to see "other countries" get into hockey. One thing I have to say, Germany and Austria have some very sharp looking jersey's. THAT is how a hockey should be dressed. (Better than some "modern" NHL jersey's....just sayin'.)

Dude, Germany has been heavy into hockey for decades. There was someone in the NHL in the 80s/90s even. They play very different hockey to Canada though.

@@mattymattffs it was never really supported here in germany. Little support for young players. That's why we could never keep up with big teams Canada ,Czech Russia etc

Nice to see Austria at least scoring two goals. I like how the crowd exploded, when they finally did it :D It would be much more sad, if they were leaving, knowing, they didn't even score. Good luck next time Austria.

Times like this I am reminded how Canadians were "also rans" in sports like Alpine Ski Racing. It is only right that countries like Austria can step onto the ice and be a part of this. I am loving how Latvia is where they are too. I think it will be interesting to see how this sorts out. If it means more great Hockey like this, I'm in for the play by play. The winners? The fans who like me leave the day to day and sway with the play.

austria would have deserved the win in this game, especially when looking at the 3rd period. but seen over the whole tournament, germany has deserved it more. for the highlights, im kinda sad they took out so much of the goal chances from austria in the last period.

Die Österreicher hätten das Potential zum Deutschland zuschlagen, das Problem ist das Sie viele Durchhänger haben wie die Schweizer auch manchmal, ich könnte mir gut vorstellen das Österreich mal oben bleiben könnten in der A Gruppe wenn Sie Konstanter werden Sie könnten mal die Deutschen vertrengen in der A Gruppe wenn Sie so weiter Arbeiten.

Both these countrie's histories have entertwined in the past and their people share the same langage as well as many other cultural elements. However, I'd wager that they have a close rivalry as well, much like Czech and Slovakia
