Lyle's admitted that knighton's 19.49 lead him to train harder and we all know that he ended his season with a 19.31 American record. He has had proper training though? His running form is much better than Bolt at 18 so one could argue he might not improve as much as Bolt did in his early 20s. No one has yet even come close to surpassing Bolt’s utter dominance and command of both the 100m & 200m at Worlds as well as the Olympics. Knighton is a big deal because he has shown he has the potential-but that’s yet to be determined. There’s a reason why Bolt is highlighted. Nice piece. As much as he's still a u20, you also want to be careful and make sure he does Junior events and dominates. You don't want him going down there and not winning by a margin. That could play with this head. Speaking of, there was a moment last yr I felt that Lyles got in his head as there was a visible rivalry developing, and I remember he ended this one interview like -- "I'm not done!" (something to that effect) and he walked away. It was an odd response, but I felt like Lyles was now in his head -- rent free. But he's still SUPER young -- though so is Lyles (25) but w/ experience. I would love to see EK test the 400 waters, esp as Norman is going down to 100.

So much about Knighton running the 100m under 10 seconds. I wonder if his coaching team has considered him running 400m to get him even stronger. Please, give him at least 3 more years to develop mature muscle, and adhere to more professional competition. This year he should run some more junior events.

Because he once had debilitating asthma, and this work ethic and discipline just beats everyone else's. Sheesh, he shouldn't be so amazing at the one thing he has always wanted to do. I would be a little bit proud of myself too. He even did that thing where he broke that record, what an insufferable athlete he is.... Sheesh, he shouldn't disrespect those long passed legends like that... 😜

In my humble opinion I think he needs to train smarter not harder. Throw in some 400 meter races and relays. Stop listening to people who would burn u out. There is a life besides running and for a young person it is important to mature and grow into adulthood. Let this running happen on ur terms and enjoy it for what it’s worth.

@@TheProchargedmopar Yeah, that's called growing up. But I sure do appreciate that he is taking the time to learn technique before getting all jacked up. That will probably serve him well in the future. I mean we might want to see it right now because of the instant gratification problem or generation has... But, I'm glad his coaches are smarter than we are. 😊

Tebogo might be tall and swole at roughly the same age, but Knighton is already running like that. Tebogo has to find a way to improve that doesn't require getting bigger muscles. Knighton just has to keep doing what he is doing, and when he does get swole, look out world.

I think Knighton won’t be in contention to win until 2027. At that point he will be 23 years old in his prime, right now I don’t expect anything out of him in terms of medals etc. Any time he runs under 20 seconds is a great race for him being only 19. Of course, he is in the mix for a medal, but don’t expect and subsequently shame him if he doesn’t podium. Good video
