Usually I rely on my monocular. I’ve been reluctant to use Be My Eyes, due to not knowing who is going to help. Aira is a bit too expensive for me right now, but it is comforting to know that if in a tight jam, I can use it for 5 minutes at no cost with a trained professional. Asking people in public sometimes is the worst option. My boyfriend is stoked that Aira is giving everyone the hook up now. Great video Carrie! 👍🏽❤️

be my eyes is actually really pretty good! And if you ever have a problem with a person, you just hang up and read them and send in a note. ☺️ I've never had to do that though. there is definitely a difference between AIRA and be my eyes and the quality both of them offer, but both are great for different things! As aira makes more partners, hopefully more things will be free!

Hey Chris! Thank you so much! ☺️ By the way, I meant to comment on your video yesterday but I was busy helping my mom and dad pack because they're moving to a new house and I was wondering if the rice thing would work on sugar? My white and brown sugar keeps clumping. And what do you call those breathable pouches? So that I can look for it on Amazon. LOL

Live Accessible you could use pantyhose to hold the rice but for sugar try putting in a marshmallow instead. Marshmallows work for brown and white sugar and I’ve heard an apple slice works for brown sugar as well.

another great video Carrie! Thanks for the info. I haven't used any of the volunteer or someone looking through my camera apps before. But that one sounds really neat especially for airports and finding people. I wonder if you could use the take a picture and find someone in the free five minutes part. do you know if you can purchase only one month at a time? So if you are going on vacation and only need it for a certain. Of time you don't have to be locked in. thanks again!

Interesting. I don't have Aira. Once upon a time I used Viz Wiz, prior to that I had used something I vaguely remember called Noogle Noggles perhaps? I don't have Be My Eyes either yet. I think I got Tap Tap See, but never got round to trying it out. There used to be an app on my old desktop which was great at helping solve captchas. It involved capturing the screen before putting any of your other information into the edit box forms. Not sure if it still exists or not. Timing seemed to make it variable for use. I like to know these options are there in a pinch, but have to question what I use them for in terms of security. I loved the demo of Aira with the glasses that I think Maureen did a couple years back. I have an offline friend who uses Aira, around here, and loves it!

Hey Audrey! What program was that on your computer? And do you mean Google goggles? they have been updating their different glasses and they're coming out with a new one soon so I'm hoping that I can get one to review. ☺️ You should definitely try be my eyes or aira sometime! It can be pretty helpful especially when it's something that's difficult for a computer to interpret. ☺️ 💕

Hi Carrie, It was like back in 2010 I think. Google Goggles had briefly been I think what it was, until there was a conflict with it having the Google name. So then an app equally good, named Noogle Noggles, came out, and I was shocked at how amazing it worked! I just barely was figuring out iphone 4 and itunes on windows! I tried it the first time one night while resting in the HEB with a sighted friend. We tried showing it all kinds of products to stump it, and it got every one of them right, without really having to figure out where the barcode even was. Nail polish, and all kinds of stuff I never even used before. My friend was also shocked but not as much as me, because it seemed only natural to her that technology "should" be that great by then! Hee! I guess eventually the regular google app improved and then eventually Google Goggles must've come back as a Google product. I should maybe try it. I just got tired of the earlier incarnations of the google app changing the volume within the app to almost inaudible for a few years so deleted it off my old phone a long time ago. I've heard it's great now for a few years, I just don't usually think about it. Maybe I will not keep spacing it out. That other app on my Win XP Pro desktop has the number 11 in its file name I think. I may have to see if I can get my old XP running and find it. I have not had it on except maybe twice since 2016. Some of my sound drivers need fixed. I got sound last year and a demo of my JAWS because I can't let it safely go online, and Freedom Scientific wants it to, or to make it lots more difficult. So I have to work quickly and try to run an old Window Eyes GW Micro demo after that. I had gotten a better sound driver actually from one of the last Window Eyes demos. MS Windows updates broke my sound drivers one day, and I have dealt with a series of crazy apartment complex disasters and family disasters and moving etc. I miss my sound software, my big full keyboards, and desktops, and my mom. Last I had it running, I had no recording inputs, but was able to get four songs she wanted off of it, for her memorial. That was last October. *Blue heart, purple heart, red heart* I've been wanting more songs off of it. I need to think about how to get to carefully restoring it from a hard drive I backed it completely up to. I think I need to get rid of the Update that messed it up first.

That's so interesting. Noogle noggles! I've never heard of it. It's so interesting. Google now has google lens and google lookout. You should definitely try them out! But if you have an iphone, use Seeing AI. It's phenomenal. Except for color identification. I really don't like color identifiers on phones... whatever phone... and Ausrey! stop using windows XP. It's no longer supported. Seriously, it's not safe to do it. You should get a new computer or get one form the computers for the blind!

I don't have my old desktops online. I'm having to do everything online with my iphone 6. I intend to get my desktops up and running for using offline to record and use Goldwave. It's kind of exhausting ergonomically to only use the phone for everything. It is limiting in some ways. It helps me greatly in other ways when it works! Grins.

I have tried it in the past and Vincent Grasso my visually impaired life made a great video about it recentlly. Because the technology is pretty new, and it's still developing, it's not completely accurate. However, it does a pretty good job overall. ☺️ Sam from the blind life also has a lot of videos about it and I hope to get one so that I can review it!

I'm on a low fixed income? That is like a dollar a minute? It would be nice to at least get a total of 3 to 5 hours of time for $25.00 to $35.00 dollars including taxes? After you go over that then I can understand charging so much a minute or offering a person a higher plan? One of the reasons I mention this is because there are places where people look at you funny or sometimes people will harass you and think that you are filming and I wish that there was a law that would allow you to use these services or even film in a place that says that filming is not allowed if you are doing it for "Accessibility" such as you can't read a sign and have to take a pitcher/video? This is something that I wish the NFB would take on? Yes, face-timing may not be as guaranteeable as Aira but that can be done for free? If Aria was to have the ability to bill medical insurance such as Medicare/Medicaid for a plan where you would get a minimum of 360 hours or 15 days? Anything beyond that you could purchase if needed? The minutes that health insurance pays for would be allowed to roll over for at least 3 consecutive months before dropping off? This would make it so I would be willing to use the service more often? The thing is I may find an app that I may be able to use but once I reach the limit of its use may not use it again and later when the app is taking up space on my phone I end up deleting it?
@LiveAccessible
@LiveAccessible 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam, I totally agree with you. I still keep Aira since they do have a lot of promotions and when I get to a place that has Aira access, I can use it without any limits. I wish that insurance would also help cover it, or that there would be a lower cost to it as well. It is a great service, but if people can't use that service, then what good is it? All the best, Carrie.
