I just bought one and I agree with you. It doesn’t close the loop all the way but it’s still a great tool. Did a chain link in an hour which would have taken at least 2 hours.

It's definitely a helpful tool, especially when you have a LOT of loops to make. :-) But don't give up on making your own, as sometimes the tool won't do what you need. Keep practicing and they'll get better. Btw, have you watched my video on making simple loops? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/epaCmseGxqiZZHU.html In it I break down the details, you may find it helpful.

Hi, I Just Watched Your Tutorial & Enjoyed Your East Explanation! My Husband Ordered Me a Yellow One THATS I Think 2.25 I Wasn’t For Sure Which Sz. To Get, I Had Seen to Videos, One They Used Black & The Other Yellow. I Hope I Can Use the 2.25 With No Problems? Thank You For Sharing!
@SandyHuntress
@SandyHuntress 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy, I’m glad you found the video helpful. 😀 You should be able to use the 2.25 mm looper just fine. It makes slightly larger loops than the one I showed, which is 1.5 mm. They also make one that makes 3 mm loops, called the big looper. I occasionally use that one, they are all incredibly useful and timesaving!

Is it strong enough for rosaries? My single loops come apart even though I make sure they are closed. Been making jewelry for years. Now I only do wrapped loops for rosaries.
@SandyHuntress
@SandyHuntress 2 жыл бұрын
If you need them to be totally secure, then, you're right, wrapped loops are the way to go. For simple loops to be secure, the wire should be at least 20 gauge. For a delicate chain, you might get away with 22 gauge, but make the loops smaller. But know that a good, strong yank will likely pull them apart.
@juliabyrd3925

can you use memory wire?
@SandyHuntress
@SandyHuntress 3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question, Julia! Memory wire is hardened more than the craft wires we usually use, so it might damage the tool. I wouldn't recommend it.

I found this in 3 different sizes; 1.5mm, 2.25mm & 3mm. I can only afford 1 and I'm a beginner. Which would you recommend?
@SandyHuntress
@SandyHuntress 7 жыл бұрын
For basic, all-purpose jewelry making I would recommend the 1.5mm. I bought the 3mm for a special project and it's the only time so far I've used it.

26 to 18 guage. Please explain the strength? Thank you
@SandyHuntress
@SandyHuntress 2 жыл бұрын
The gauge does not refer to the strength, but rather to the size. 18 gauge wire is 1mm in diameter, 26 gauge is much thinner, about 0.4mm in diameter.

It does not close because when you are looping usually attaching something else.
@SandyHuntress
@SandyHuntress Жыл бұрын
It has more to do with the gauge of the wire. Actually do you want the wire end to close because you twist it sideways to add something, not pull it apart.
