Marisa Peer I’ve written your items on a paper for my mind wall where I sit. I’ve really been using the concept of “do what I don’t want to do first.” I’ve been using it throughout the day, doing the next thing that I don’t want to do. I’ve also been focusing on “I Am Enough.” I am getting so much benefit and I’ve only been watching you for a few days! I really appreciate your guidance and great content!!

Sherry Polley Authentic funny you mentioned it, during the video I pinned those four principles on my wall as well and will take action on “praise yourself” and “do what you don’t want to do first” and the first on that list is push ups. Take action every single day in the direction of your goal - that’s the one I’m good at. I list for myself at least one thing, which ends up being at least 6 usually (because you get the drive). I list one on each one of my areas - the first will be - do what’s excites me and how can I be in serve. Then, there’s one to the different areas of my life - one for nutrition, one for morning rituals (which are super important for me), one for moving my body, spending time in my spirit zone, overcome resistance and create my income by expressing myself and serving others and each day it gets a different form (: Thank you Marissa and Sherry!

I exercise upon first getting up. And i praise myself for doing it. I lost 80 pounds since retiring and everyone said id gain it all back - what wonderful motivation to try new things when im 61 years old like Attaining a blue belt in Wing Chun Gung Fu. Im turning 65 next month and i always wanted to write a book. I've read all my life. I joined book clubs online 7 years ago. 2 years ago i joined facebook reading groups. I took a year to write blurbs and this year im taking college classes. I kept building actions and now i say to myself how everyone loves to hear me tell stories. I like the reward idea...in college i ate m&m's after doing homework. Ill find another reward. Haha

I was very disciplined doing my PhD and what you say is so true. I look back and wonder how I did it working full time with a preschooler. Fastest completion time in the division ever. It was my dream to publish journal articles and to earn a doctorate. No longer could anyone, especially my family, say I am stupid. My own mother has never acknowledged my achievements, neither for my masters nor my PhD. It was an epiphany to realise that I was not the stupid one all along. Discipline, I believe, is the most important character trait.

Ask yourself... A...What do I really want? B...What price am I willing to pay to get what I want? 1.Do what you don't want to do first. If you get that out of the way, you feel like a winner! 2.Take action towards your goal..no matter how small. 3.Delay gratification. When I finish, I will reward myself. 4.Praise yourself as you go. What you tell yourself your mind thinks as real. I earned this! I deserve it! I'm worth it! Embrace it..own it, adopt it. My absolute favorite part is... You make a habit then your habits make you. Thank you Marisa!!!!!!💖

I was taught the first three at an early age. It was ingrained in me. I was taught the 4th- self praise- was wrong, bad, even evil. For most of my life, I had zero self-discipline and zero healthy (consistent) habits. I thought it would rob me of my greatest value: freedom. And then I realized that the chaos created by a lack of discipline was the actual thing robbing me of freedom. That realization was a gamechanger for me. I had(have) a big vision for my life and biz, and realized I was the only thing holding me back. Suddenly my WHY became so much bigger than all my "why not's". This was about 3-4 years ago. I've changed so much in those years - I'm healthier happier, and more successful and I'm gaining traction like crazy now. And YES - it really does become easy! LOVE that you reminded people of that! Nothing stays difficult forever! After awhile it becomes quite boring, it's so easy. 😂

I love "Take action every single day." I recently started my food business and every little step I do is worth it. Whether it's reaching out to a local market, asking friends for guidance or following up with a retailer I've already talked to weeks ago, I no longer feel ashamed to look at every thing I do as a step forward. I'm not perfect, but I never underestimate the small steps in my life. I compare these small steps to a large portrait...it's the small pixels that make the big picture beautiful. As for things I should work on -it's something in a previous video which is "focusing on one strength." I love comedy and writing, but also inherited a wonderful recipe from my late father, which is why I feel my passions are all over the place. I'm trying to allocate my energy and work evenly, but I won't lie that it's a challenge.

I remember, the fist time I went on u tube, and listened to you. I instantly wanted to listen to you more! You cut through the nonsense. I have had several counselors throughout my life. Dealing with eating disorders . Always wanted to be someone else! Because, I never felt good enough. Sexually molested by my stepfather. Going to my mom , and telling her what happened. Being devastated ! That she didn’t believe me. No love in the home. The scares are still there. My husband has stood by me, and praises me often. I love that , I am enough! I wrote it on my bed room mirror. Every morning when I get dressed I look at it! And remind myself, you are ENOUGH!! Thank you Marisa, you have helped me more than any of the counselors I have seen.❤️🙂

I remember being in school while working full time and taking care of my children. There were so many times I started to talk myself out of graduating because it was SO difficult to juggle everything. I made myself continue even though I was exhausted much of the time. I not only demonstrated to my children that perseverance pays off, but after I did graduate, I actually ‘missed’ being in school because I had incorporated it as part of my daily ritual. Stick to it folks, even when it seems impossible at times. You got this! You can do it! Believe it and it will happen. God bless.

Major Aha! You planted seed in mind. What do I most resist and why? Why do I put off becaring myself -- not exercising, eating on time, etc??? And memory from age four popped up, Punished for exuberance, told I should go to the End of the line, put myself last. And have been doing this whole life. So, what later last, from now on, do first. Take care of health first in order to take care of others in good time. Wonderful catalyst you are, Marissa!!

I worked in corporate America for almost 40 years. I heard many years ago the tip you gave to "do what you don't want to do FIRST" and it made all the difference in my day. When I put off the most difficult thing, it ruined my day, put me on edge, and probably made those around me miserable too. So, I can tell you from experience, this tip really works. I also am praising myself and I put YOU ARE ENOUGH on my bathroom mirror, and a daily notice on my phone. Now, when people say things to me/about me that are attempts to get under my skin, I just say to myself "I AM ENOUGH" and walk away smiling.

Hello Marisa - I am 75 and have discovered you this year 2019. I read years ago that top executives tell themselves to "eat the frog" first. Ugh. What a thought. But I did that for many years, not realising that I had a couple of self-sabotage buttons in other areas. Since discovering you and Vishen and Jay Shetty at MindValley, the fire in my belly is re-ignited. I watch something of yours at least every second day. I have a goal and this session of four disciplines is going to be so helpful. I will first slay that dragon, as is the now more palateable suggestion, and follow through with the rest. I would love to meet you one day but for now I can say that through your talks I have found at last two self-sabotaging phrases that I heard (directed at me) as a child hidden deep in my subconscious - at the deepest level. These two phrases had practically been 'the pillars of my being'! How awful. But now they no longer rule me. Recently, I saw the video clip in which Vishen said that he 'stands for Unity'. I have kept that clip. I am so proud of Vishen. In this year of 2019 we all need to stand for Unity. One humanity; one world. We all belong... Much love to you, Vishen and Jay...from a meditator.

For the month of December, I challenged myself to go out for a run every single day, no matter how short a run or how slow I was. The first day I almost threw up. For the past 3 days, I've run a 2-mile loop without stopping. My knees are killing me, and everyone keeps telling me to rest them and take a day off. But although I'm hoping not to hurt myself, it is important for me to work through the discomfort because I have to start developing that self-discipline. Most of all, I have to start keeping the promises that I make to myself. I'm learning that the huge road blocks I imagine are mostly just empty cardboard boxes I can plough through. Thank you Marisa! Also, thank you Lisa S ... what a great mantra!

I notice I only work hard to get someone else’s praise, when I feel like a victim or if I really, really want something. And I have to remember now in midlife to do only what I love or gives me joy, because that’s when I’ll actually work hard for it. It’s a start to self discipline for me now.
