Hi Omar. I dont usually put comments on videos. But I felt some kind of necessity to do it now. Thanks to your, and Sean Tucker videos, I bought my XT-20 - that I still use, and is my favorite everyday camera. And I didn't buy it because you guys are into gear or anything, but because your videos explained to me that camera is only a tool that helps me make photography. And for some reason, when you add video, I am like oh - Omar just put new video on, grab some popcorns, seat, relax, and watch. I am not here because of Fuji or Nikon or Sony, I am here, because your channel has a story, dose of inspiration, dose of entertainment . And yes, I am watching The Mo & O too . So I would like to see maybe some guide to photography, not about cameras, but about photography, and done with your style. Maybe even a book. I wish you Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family. Thank you for all of your hard work, you inspired many people here, me too, so head up, stay you, because you rock. ;) PS: talking about influence - because of you I am now watching Itchy Boots., and was never into bikes, just for the adventure! ;)

I bought an X-T2 and immediately after receiving it I came here to find stuff like this. It was quite some time ago, but it’s changed a bit! I personally like using the front button for “AF ON” instead of using the “AF-L” button like your old video showed. I find that one to be less natural while I am up at the EVF. I remapped the face eye to AF-L instead.

FWIW as a still-learning Fuji shooter, your channel inspires me more as a photographer than any other. I'll admit that I lean more on Pal's channel in regards to technical details, but I have to say that what you considered mundane/boring street shots, I happened to love. For example that shot in your last vid with the blurred woman in all white walking past the MGB in the foreground I'm super jealous of. From my point of view I think you're in a near ideal place in KZfaq. A place where you don't have to rely on it to pay your bills, and in turn you can do whatever makes you and your loyal followers happy. Regardless, I hope you find a balance that perfectly fits you and your family. Cheers, and thanks for all your hard work Omar!!!

I felt exactly same as PAL2TECH. Keep having fun. Button settings of course are extremely personal. I don't see how having a function button for silent/movie is useful as the default behavior you would want always on so I keep F1 as face detection. F2 I have as autofocus modes as I think this should always be one button away. I wish Fuji cameras had two other function buttons on the front you could select with either the middle ring or pinky fingers, so by default you select white balance and photometry modes

Hey Omar. Very helpful videos presented with class…thank you. My backbuttonfocus tip is because I found that if shooting from a low level using the back screen, the AE-L button (my BBF button) is really awkward. I also set up the button in the front as BBF. This allows me to focus with my finger and click the shutter with my thumb.

Love your stuff Omar. I made the button on the front my reviewing button as I also didn't like having to cross over the back of the camera for that. Also didnt realize holding down the display button brings up the various button selections. But most important, what was the watch you were wearing in your last video. It's different from this one, was silver with a black face and knurled edges. Sweet looking.

Can confirm: we call it a spanner. The WB default on X-T4 starts at 10000K every time you go to set it! 5000K would be much quicker... Great to see your current settings and compare notes - I bump the front-side button too, but I have it set to horizon level (crooked for life!), so it never affects my focus and is instantly noticeable and easily findable. I also bump the X-T4's left mode dial under the ISO, so I find myself in HDR or high frame rate burst every now and then! I found using a custom setting shortcut and having NO film-sim shortcut stopped me diving into settings when I'm out - if you're like me and want to try everything! :) It's been nice to 'preload' my camera with a few I like when I have the headspace to look for something new. Idea: Is it worth chucking EVERY Fuji tutorial you've made into an all-powerful playlist? I noticed you've got an X-T20 but not general Fuji one. You'll see how many awesome videos you've made and the value you've created for the Fuji community.

Omar, I absolutely luurve your informative, educational, and fun videos. I am a Fuji shooter, and you have pretty much revolutionised the way I approach my photography, due to your common sense and practical advice. I recently bit the bullet and moved to Back Button focus on your suggestion (hey, better late than never :)), which has totally revitalised my approach to things. However, do you have any advice on how to optimise Auto Exposure with a Fuji camera (X-T3) when using back button focus, as this was previously achieved via the half press of the shutter button...or am I missing something? Thanks for all the excellent advice.

don't need the face detect, don't shoot people! the sarcastic look about Fuji app is excellent hahaha. Also the levels, I just turn mine on all the time. Totally agree with the play back button though, works a treat. When you reach across it, the LCD screen turns off due to the sensor thinking you are using the evf.

Hi Omar. Long time viewer of your channel (since 2017). Unfortunately, I dropped out of photography for a couple of years (to the point my XT3 reset itself due to a depleted battery). But now that I’m back, I’m watching every single one of your Fujifilm “setting” guides to speed up my return to photography:) Quick question regarding this video: what do you set your AF-L button to? You skipped it in the video. You also skipped the AE-L button, but I assume that’s your back button focus. Cheers!

Really helpful! H I've had my X-T3 for a month or so (which your videos helped me feel confident in choosing) and been so focused on reacquainting myself with photography basics after a long hiatus, fiddling with the dials, editing, etc. that I really haven't changed any buttons at all! This has some great ideas in it I can see being immediately helpful, especially the timer, playback, and level buttons. I'll probably go look for a histogram and rule of thirds shortcuts too. Happy new year from Scotland Omar, looking forward to seeing what you produce in 2022!

Hey Omar, this Canadian thinks your great..appreciates your efforts too. Enough about you eh... How about trying out a Nikon Zfc for us? I'm thinking of buying it or the XT3. Or maybe a Z5... Zfc seems like a sweet old school & Fuji vibe.

I have found that my aging brain no longer wants to try and remember what I have set every button or gesture to (and who am I to argue.) So I gave up on all of the button programming. Instead, on my X-T4, I have set up a My Menu with just the functions I typically change during a shoot. One press of the Menu button and My Menu instantly pops up on the LCD or in the EVF and I can quickly go to the setting I want. My brain thanks me and it is important for me to keep my brain happy (brains are so high-maintenance these days!).
