Enhance you weekly guitar licks with this guitar tutorial.
What a way to start the weekend! This guitar lick will transform your solos from standard pentatonic licks to something a little bit more special. Using shape four of the pentatonic scale, the natural minor scale and a minor 7th arpeggio all linked together in one lick, over an eight bar sequence, you will find more than you need. In the guitar tutorial, you could learn the whole guitar lick or pull out micro licks from within the whole phrase. Taking the smaller licks will give you great potential for repeating phrases/licks for blues and rock soloing. Building scale knowledge is one thing, but learning how to use the scales to create solos is another, and learning a new guitar lick every week is a great way to build and develop the skills needed to play interesting and structured solos.

This "lick" sounds like a solo many songs these days don't have :D sounds amazing, grabbing my guitar, will understand how bad I am at guitar and then I will skip to another video

Hi,I'm 42 just picked up an electric guitar about a month ago. I've been loving it ever since. I practice rhe spider walk for half an hour almost everyday. I have memorized the first 2 minor pentatonics,I can do decent bends and hammer ons. But I feel like I'm stuck I can't do licks by myself or even play fluid. I can copy someone else's tricks and links slowly,but I just can't seem to get it going. I wanna be able to play for at least a minute. 🙏🏻 PLEASE,what would you recommend. I dedicate about 2 hours a day on the guitar. Anything would help please. Thanks in advance.

Hi. It’s great intrument to start playing but it does take time. It took me way longer than a month to get solos even remotely started unless I’d copied them, and even then they still sounded shit!! With two hours a day you will defo have the time to improve, and that’s a better start than most time wise. I used to work songs/riffs out by ear and try to play along with the CD/mp3, it’s a great way to develop rhythm, as to be a great solo player you also need great rhythm skills too, scales alone are not enough. You need a pot of licks to pulls from, and that takes time to build, hence the #lickfriday series. So, learn licks, riffs, rhythm guitar parts and play along with the songs you are learning. Little and often, slow and even (if it’s a difficult part) will be a good place to start. I just recorded a six part “shorts” series on beginner soloing. Check back for that as I still need to edit and condense the footage. Always waffle too much!! Have fun and good luck.
