Did you get a used car or truck that came with a wiring hackjob? There are lots of customizations on cars and trucks that require tapping into the vehicle's wiring, and some people leave a mess! In this video, Len shows you how to clean up some sloppy wiring splices in your car or truck. He shows you how to clean up and repair bad, loose, or sloppy splices with liquid and regular electrical tape, and then stow those wires neatly and safely so they remain clean, dry, and secure!

Being in the restoration field we come across bad and VERY BAD wiring modifications all the time. At least the person who spiced into this trucks harness didn't cut the original wires, instead choosing to do twist and solder the new wires to them, After seeing home wire nuts and mis-matched wire sizes in many older cars we think anyone who even thinks about doing wiring should take a class first! Great video showing an easy fix using good techniques and products that'll last a good long while.

Didn't realize there was liquid electrical tape. I personally tend to carry electrical tape. Never know when you'll need it

I Wouldn't call it a HackJob, it was a clean splice for sure. Just didn't use liquid tape is all. Also I wouldn't use the original wire to power anything due to manufactor/wire ratings. Best to use it as signal wires only for a seperate decice.

Harbor Freight also sells heat shrink straws very cheap. I use them over the electrical tape for insurance. Good video!

I wanted to swap out the mirrors on my 2018 Camry se for some that have the integrated signals on them. However the mechanic told me in order to make them work he’d have to run wires into the connector and then tap those into the signals. These wiring issues give me a fear if I did get it done

I literally just finished having to rewire and terminate all 5 lights on the driver side front because the previous owner left a rat's nest and shorted the indicator light.

What a waste of time. The job wasn't even that bad, the only thing they didn't do was put zip ties on their electrical tape to make sure the tape didn't peel back over time. Even over many years the worst that's going to happen off that is a blown fuse. The only extra thing you done was add liquid wrap.
