This car is so beautifully maintained. It's got all original interior, no modified sound system and the exterior is clean and original too. Props to the owner man. Definitely gonna be a valuable piece of history 👌

This was and still is my favourite 5er. First saw it in the metal in the late 80s. And what a handsome design then, and still is today.

What a beautiful looking E34! Brings back memories, some good, some bad! Thanks for the video, Kon. If anyone's looking for such a vehicle, your last section makes a lot of sense - get a good condition one for under 20 because a poor condition one is going to set you back about as much. Even then, be wary and give yourself a reality check before diving in. My unit was well looked after by the previous owner but was quite high mileage. In 2.5 years I had to redo the front suspension, replace the engine head, refurbish the gearbox + regular wear and tear. Then I found out the battery compartment (which is under the rear seats, not in the boot) had started to rust badly. Sat down and did up an excel sheet with all the past and future expenses on the car and realised it was time to say goodbye and start again. Learnt a lot of weird things about the E34. BMW made a lot of subtle changes that are a bit tough to keep track of. I think there were 3 auto boxes from 3 different suppliers, one of the wiper blades is inverted and impossible to find spares for, some of the headlights come with a little 'smiley' cutout under the projector and some don't. Ultimately, I doubt it will appreciate past the cost of maintenance in the more common forms and it's not light or agile enough to run as an E30 alternative - Subhash

I've owned my E34 for 7+ years now. Enjoying it still every time. Accumulated some knowledge over the years of ownership too here are some fun facts! 1. The 2litre models have the battery in the engine bay. 2.5l and up all had their batteries under the rear seat. 2. 2l M50 models also have a different electronic cluster to the 2.5l and up. 3. M20 models are still analog clusters.

i was introduced to the world of BMW by my father as a child. He had quite a number of E34s over the years. The longest that he kept was an M20 525. For the the most beautiful 5ers are the 28, 34 and 39. Of course it was nice to drive. But the gearbox was disappointing retarded. I hated that feeling when u put the throttle down and it feels like it had to think, before it kicked down 1 gear. It felt like everything i did had to go thru an intermediary before an execution of action happened. When i test drove an E39. It felt the same. I love the E39. It was for the same reason that i walked away. I am quite certain a manual would have been vastly different.

The only thing I knew about the E34 is that you can find manual 520i examples in the classifieds

I got one in better original condition than this one, also got another one that I dailied for 2 years, that have had rust repair and some paint work done. Oh, and replaced pretty much everything mecahnical, besides inside the engine, axels and the differential. Not planning on letting either of them go. Even if I won't get back to them for a years, as I study. The E34s is a very big part of what inspired me to want to become a mechanical engineer. So at least when I am done, I can afford the fuel, as well as be able to maintaining them properly, not cutting corners on any parts I buy, and be able to properly appreciate them.

Nice car to drive but nightmare to maintain.! Had a very troublesome time with it sometime back till i swap engine to 1JZ. Yet, still suffered to find wear & tear parts 🤦🏻‍♂️

For 90% of the chase it was not an M5, just a 535i with Mtech i wheels and an M5 badge.
