Danyang again went on about her character. She is trying to combine the postulates instilled in her since childhood with real feelings. Jealousy and pain do not let her go, she wants to take revenge. @@Irynash11 Danyang has come a long ways. I couldn't stand her in the beginning. The turning point for me is when she slapped the hell out of Lianfang...lol that moment never gets old. Honestly I think Shiyi was suspicious about Lingkuan's concubines story especially after listening to her argument with her former friend. Once Danyang decided to ignore Shiyi's advice she put a safety plan in action to prevent a tragedy. It's understandable that Danyang was unhappy especially since it was her maid that betrayed her. She just wanted to hurt her...just like she did to her. Revenge is a slippery slop. After her little dust storm with Lingyi...Shiyi knows the value of honesty. She didn't want Danyang to repeat her mistake. As they say hindsight is 20/20... Shiyi learned from her mistake. The GM is really useless when it comes to family matters. She's always focusing on the wrong thing. It's about the family appearance to her. The fires that was brewing in her family was put out by Shiyi because she was too wrapped up in tricking Lingyi into falling for Lianfang. She's the one that took control of the situation/she controlled the narrative. She did such an amazing job pulling the family back from the brink of disaster.

@@shontelagrone8713 Yes, Danyang has come a long way. I remember her displeased face at Lingyi and Shiyi's wedding, and then her dismissive attitude towards Shiyi during the introduction. Now she treats Shiyi like a sister. Danyang did not want to take Shiyi's advice, but she should have remembered the phrase: "If you want revenge, dig two graves: one for the enemy, the other for yourself." Shiyi is very observant and she knows that Lingquan loves his wife. No matter how irresponsible he was, but the new concubine is clearly not what he wanted to get. Shiyi knows that not everything people say is worth believing. Too often the thirst for profit pushes them to meanness. Danyang revenge, wanted to drown out her pain, but harmed only herself. I like Danyang's generosity, she learns from Shiyi. I like the way Lingquan behaves when everything is resolved. He supports his wife, turns the page and does not remember the past. He's grown up a lot.

@@Irynash11 Yes, she handled things great once the truth was revealed. She could've done more to punish her little maid but she remembered her role in everything and chose to take the high road. Lingkuan followed her lead/they were able to move forward. It's a testament to how far they have come. Yes, her attitude towards Shiyi...I remember it well. It's one of the main reasons I didn't like her character. She was so determined not to like her because of her status but in the end they became sisters. Shiyi had such a kind/sweet heart because she chose to move forward. She didn't hold a grudge at all. She accepted Danyang despite her behavior in the past. A great friendship was born.

I really like this show's individual growth arcs. Danyang's arc is hard but she learns and she gets a wonderful sister in Shiyi. Poor Lingkuan also gets his wife back and learns a lesson in wisdom along the way. Shiyi's foresight and planning save the family yet again. I wish that in the ten years later part of this show that Lingyi and Shiyi had at least three children especially after this scene where he asks for up to five before Shiyi stops him.
