What about returning users? I see them under Retention, but if you connect GA4 to Looker there is no returning users. I did a calculated field with total-new, but it just shows the same number as total users instead.... any ideas?

Do you mean that First_visit users are also among Active Users, even if their visit lasted only 2 seconds without conversion event and with only one pageview?

In the events report shouldn't GA4 consider the nr of active users instead of nr total users? Because of the definition of active users (has a conversion event).

But the events report is not only showing conversions, but also other events. So, total users makes sense.

There are problems with GA4 and this one needs an urgent fix. I have access to hundreds of GA4 accounts and almost all have too much direct traffic. This explanation is actually a distraction . Please fix this massive bug first.
