I'm a believer Dave. I work in the oil and gas industry and with 40 years of service I was taught this method about 12 years ago, by a coworker who was 30 years younger than me. He also showed me how to get the depth of the pipe we were looking for. His location was spot on. However his depths were off about 3 feet. Still amazing in my opinion. We were trying to find a 6 inch plastic City Water line which was 18"s from our 36" high pressure gas line. His predictions said the water line was 8 feet deep. We finally found the top of the water line at 11 feet. The young man Made a believer outta me that day. Which BTW shows your never too old to learn something new.

I had heard others show a way to estimate depth as well but could not remember how that was done.
@deanbarr5740

The way I was shown is, once you have located the line you put your crossed wires on the ground and slowly start lifting the wires straight up. Once the wires break the electric field have someone measure from that point to the ground and "bingo" that should be the depth. It wasn't spot on but its something to go with and sometimes it works. When the young man showed me this trick the plastic water line was exactly where he said it was but it was a little deeper. I expect it'd be more accurate with a metal line.

Great old timer's trick. We used to bend them up from brass brazing rod and use short pieces of copper tube to make hand grips, so the rods would spin around inside the tubes super easy (don't have to worry about your grip or sweaty palms confusing the spirits). for sure the ending was over the top. one thingg he left out, the sewer pipe must be full of water, the location looked like he in the city, and the city will come mark out all your utility's for free, that why they say, call before you dig, now if this was in the country, starting off with a backhoe not so smart, as most sewer lines to the septic tank are only inchs under ground, unlike city sewers, as the steer pipe is down really deep to keep the grade going down hill for miles, were country homes have there own septic tank witch is only at most a foot under ground, the shallow sewer line and tank will never freeze even here in the long months of 40 below, a sewer line never hold water so it cant freeze, a septic tank is always working, making lots of heat, to the point the 6 to 8 feet of snow on top melts, the heat digests all the solids in the tank, that why you have to make sure your tank is always working and never dump salt, greases, strong cleaners, disinfectants, as all these kill your tank and lead to having to have it pumped out, a good working tan never need pumping,, once pumped you have to start from scratch to get it working again. my tank has never been pumped since installed over 30 years ago. i witched my own well plus many others using a crow bar
@daveknowshow
@daveknowshow 2 жыл бұрын
@@arnoldromppai5395 yes I agree septic tanks should never need pumping if working correctly. here they make us pump them every 5 years which defeats the purpose of having the septic system. may as well merely have a holding tank. lol thanks for the comment. oh yeah the line was empty no water in it. I been using these copper dowsing rods to locate underground wires as well so I dont think it needs water necessarily to work. I could be wrong, been wrong a lot in my lifetime. lol

@@daveknowshow you got to be kidding they make you pump them every 5 years.. good lord, nothing like starting frrom scratch every 5 years, it take good management to get them going and keeping it that way, like i said i have never pumped mine in over 30 years ago when i put it in, and my grand ma an pa never pumped theirs in over 60 years. thats right, it should never need pumping unless you screwed it up. i and 3 others have never be able to pick up wires or dry pipes, i use a sounder with a tone box hooked to the ground wire, cost me all of $40 to make
@daveknowshow

@@arnoldromppai5395 I'd love to see a video of how you made the sounder tone box and receiver. yeah and we have two tanks here at this house one in front and one in back. one for upstairs and one for down stairs. the down stairs I dont even tell them about so I dont have to pay to have it pumped. everytime they pump it the company just cant believe how well my tank looks. I keep the tank running well with the right kind of bacteria in there to break it down good. plus we only use septic safe paper and never allow grease down the drain!

@@henryhenry5897 totally understND AND RESPECT THAT! for sure it could be possibly spiritual. as a person with an electrical background I feel its electrical and magnetic pulses that create this reaction. the key is channeling your bodies electrical current with the earths rotation and gravitational pull. I think this creates a magnetic pulse that has some pull / push affect on the copper wire when held with the proper grip at the hand. to tight or to loose of a grip and it does not work as accurately. any place the earth was disturbed or dug up and or objects where laid or formed there it creates a change and the copper reacts to that change. I think some day in the future we will have hoover craft that can fly forward reverse up or down on these same principles. I just wish I could be the one to nail down exactly how to harness and harvest it. lol anyhow I sure hope its not something bad. all I can do is pray on it and give all the glory to God. so much could be said on that subject I could go on for days and I'm sure you could as well. I know we would both agree in more ways than disagree. peace love an respect my friend. may the Lord protect us from the evil one that lays in wait for us each day. Amen!
