The only thing im upset about is how i wont be able to experience all of it.

The NASCAR Pit Road AI strategist Pit Rho is really fascinating. Broadcast doesn't mention these systems at all, let alone in-depth, as I imagine teams want to keep most of the details proprietary to gain an edge on the competition. Neat stuff as a Computer Scientist and Race fan!

As a master student of Mechatronics, I study robotics and A.I. as part of the course. But what we learn is no way near to what the world has achieved there. What a superb show. The thing that interests me most on this episode is how quickly a person will embrace a cybernetic/prosthetic part as part of themselves. I am not surprised though. I was reading that the self image we have of our body will often expand to include the tools we use. Drivers will feel their car is part of themselves after a little while. A squash player will use the racket as an extension of themselves. So him feeling that his robot ankle was his actual ankle is exactly what I would have predicted. I am glad to see that it is true in reality (a sample size of 1 doesn't prove anything of course, but I'll be money that active prosthetics will be embraced as a body part). It won't be long before the replacement part is better than the original. I wonder what people will start to do then? Will people voluntarily remove body parts to make room for what they see as superior parts? I expect that some people almost certainly will.
@jodyboles8208
@jodyboles8208 4 жыл бұрын
as it gets much more advance then yeah i wouldnt be surprised if people wanted to remove part for robotic ones more so if it preforms better and even simulate real feeling to it as well. i dont think thats a bad thing though. that simply us making ourselves better and faster after all.

Well, if you’ve been together with the same person for three decades, then 10 years is that big of a deal. Kinda like how my parents, who are both in their mid- to late fifties, can’t remember if they did something in the 2010s or 1990s. They’ve lived for almost 6 decades, so if course it’s going to get more more difficult to distinguish them. Kinda like I have a hard time remembering if something happened in 2013, 2014 or 2015. Time is relative and your perspective on time gets warped the longer you’ve lived.

0:48 Ancient Hinduism. So glad to to see Hinduism being mentioned. Hinduism texts is ocean of scientific tech from making Flying airplanes to nuclear weapons, specific targeted missiles (Weapon science is more prominent in the Text Mahabharata). Theories that have got attention in recent decades such as multiverse, time travel as many others have already been mentioned in various texts from Bhagavad Gita to Bhagavath puran.

Crazy they can see light years into space but only just learning how to see through smoke
@averageanon5504
@averageanon5504 4 жыл бұрын
Well,it helps when space are mostly empty spaces. Also,space observations are made on clear,cloudless day. Spaces also are mostly cold and dark so stars and planets with very different heat and luminosity levels can be observed and detected relatively easy. In a burning confined space,firefighters deal with smokes with high temperatures. These smokes are very difficult to deal with as they limit natural human vision. They could not be fanned out as it's the same as you trying to clear out water while in a swimming pool by pushing them away. Finding a victim are not easy even with heat seeking technology as the surrounding heat masks the body temperature. Firefighters has to deal with life threatening situation in a limited amount of time as the longer it takes to get out of the danger,lesser chance for the victim to survive. Compared to seeing into space,humans are able to do research with relative comfort and experiments and tests could be conducted in a safe conditions. Humans are able to discover ways to peer through the space because it is less harmful,voluntarily done,having to deal with less stress as well as relatively less complex task while a firefighters are risking their lives,in a very unpredictable and hostile conditions,having to do complex task that involves saving others as well as protecting their own.

@@averageanon5504 - They say, that an intelligent scientist, made two holes on his door, one big hole for big cat (or dog) and one small hole for entry of small cat so that the cats do not disturb him at night. It is said that particular scientist was not that-intelligent-enough and it didn't strike his mind that BOTH cats can enter through SAME big hole on the door. But with so much MOST-ADVANCED tehnology of going to other MOON/ PLANETS and AI (Artificial Intelligents, Bots) humans have NOT SO FAR INVENTED a method by which fire-fighters, rescuers are able to DETECT PEOPLE or animals, in case of NATURAL disasters (like earthquakes, sunamies etc) or MAN-MADE disasters (fire, building collapses, kidnappings, ship or train or aeroplane accidents etc) with WEARABLE DEVICES like WATCH, LOCKET, CHAIN WITH CHIP OR BY OTHER MEANS, so that rescuers, fire fighters, police can play the MOST-IMPORTANT ROLE of SAVING human or other lives, children, elderly, handicapped, mentally retarded, invalid, patients in coma OR those who had FAINTED due to smoke or shock. I don't know whether science, scientists, educationist, police, governments, inventions etc are for betterment of HUMAN LIVES or not. This technology (or such other technology) is used by some profit-oriented super markets for their benefits. Some intelligent organisations or its managements or security personnel MISUSE this facility than using it to find how many persons were TRAPPED AND CAN be RESCUED inside each floo/ building in case of fire, earthquakes, building collapse, lift-stoppage etc., So much for science for much touted benefit of humanity. ***

Super Orphan God's Worshipper Thing is, the technology required to go into space is actually really simple, compared to some of the things you're discussing. The phone/tablet/computer you're using has more processing power than NASA used to land people on the Moon. The fact that people went to space using technology doesn't mean that science isn't trying to help people as well - it's just that science innovates in many directions at once. I would also like to point out that the idea of everyone having a chip or piece of apparel that tracks one's location is a bit scary - good luck convincing anyone to let the government know their location 24/7 just in case they get caught in a burning building.

Very impressive!!! but if I could make a suggestion, climbing as the primary subject does requires absolute control in every aspect of his being on such a slope of granite that more care of the base of his bionic ankle and foot needs to have the same texture and resilience of the normal foot and his shoes.I use this as an example only as the job done was done very well. But in any patient who has special functionality gets the needed tools from the start.

In a hypothetical future, if it no longer becomes sci-fi and machine becomes the dominant species they could view human life as lesser. Like how we raise cows and pigs on farms, we'd be their livestock. We could be of some use to them, possibly for their own research on the human race or for our biological parts. Maybe they'd have an interest in the past like us so they'd keep us alive to have what to us would be a still living dinosaur. Machine would have plenty use for humans. But then again this is all speculation. For now closest we have to it is the Terminator series.
