This video shows how to use a paint viscosity cup to deliver consistent painting results. It also shows the impact that making a paint thinner (reducing viscosity) has on being able to spray the paint.

Very helpful. I have watched several of your videos now, and you explain things extremely well. Thank you for that.

20s thought it would run as most paints would with that level of thinning, 30 seconds usually the rule for HVLP I have found, 10% thinner to start with either water-based or oil, then add more as required. No more than 15-20% and your usually good to go!

19s? I get runs if I'm much under 25 but I'm no pro painter. Thanks for the video - very thorough and appreciate the knowledge!

Sir , we can measure kinematics or dynamic viscosity of paint

The paint I’m using says it’s 97-107 KU.. so to spray it with an HVLP 3 stage with 1.8mm/2mm nozzle/cap, how many seconds do you think the flow should be? Using a #4 Ford cup.

Hi great videos, would you have any recommendations on air assisted airless , viscosity, pressures tip size for oil based enamel thanks

Artie6937 hi do you have a name of the product? We can probably help

Dulux super enamel oil based, Wagner air coat
@PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo7 жыл бұрын
From what i can tell the aircoat is an air spray gun if thats the case the dulux coating suggests you can thin it a bit more up to 125 ml per litre this should help www.duspec.com.au/pdfs/datasheets/AUDD0028.pdf

What would you suggest I thin my paint with? I am trying to paint cabinets with Benjamin Moore Advance.

A small amount of water its water based

great video. Why not just use water instead of thinner? do you get better results with thinner?
@francoamerica20082 жыл бұрын
It would have to be a water based paint to use water. The process is the same for water or thinner based materials.

@Pittsburg - Where's the video on the viscosity cup differences and conversions? Did you make it yet?
@@PittsburghSprayEquipmentCo - actually I went to your site and read the article that goes with this video. But thanks for the response and link! Cheers...

Also pressure at the gun makes an atomization difference. There are different Zahn cups. I use GE #2 and #3.. Originally used by General Electric to measure viscosity of dope, inside step down transformers at different temperatures. That's why I trust GE Zahn Cups accuracy and durability.. The video is fairly good. There are many variables not included. But as a basic understanding, is good. Thank you for posting.
