Using a Vacuum Bleeder and changing pads on the 1190

Today I changed the front pads and changed the brake fluid for the front brakes on the KTM 1190 Adventure R. Hopefully its helpful for someone.

I need to get a decent vacuum pump, I tried a couple cheapy Ebay ones but they never work well. I usually put a bit of copper grease on the back of the pads and retaining pins. Probably don't need to though bit always have done it out of habit.

Confused- all I saw was air bubbles as he finished. And he didnt do the upper bleeder by the master.

Can't afford a Kto, so that gadget would be out of my price range :) On my KLR used a syringe for the rear brake and will use an oil pump can to push fluid up the front brake reservoir.

Nice one mate. We could have done with that in Danggali Conservation Park and Port Augusta when we were working on the 690. You remember that one mate?

Motive Products make a decent one apparently. It doesn't use a compressor but should be much better than the hand pump ones.

You don't do the bleeder port by the brake lever? I usually pump the brake lever a few times and open and close that port to get all the air out that way.

I did pump the lever a few times, but I havnt done anything with the port on the lever.... you learn something new every day!
