Using Blender to program a Camera Slider with Klipper!

Күн бұрын

This project which should have started simple ended up in a Klipper controlled camera slider which is programmed with Blender. The possibilities this enables is insane if you think about it! You can program a robotic arm by animating it in Blender if you want to. In this video I use Huvud boards github.com/bondus/KlipperTool... but it's also possible to use a regular 3D printer controller. You also don't need Klipper, but I wanted to learn how to use this firmware and by using it in a custom way like this I was able to really learn from it by stumbling on several uncommon issues. This ain't no 3D printer xD

Have you tried Fluiddpi os ? It comes as a complete system for your klipper printer, just have to copy paste the config file. It is so much better than octoprint + klipper.

Hey Jon, I was surfing YT on the ps5 and found your channel and have been binge watching it for the last 8-9 hours. No joke. Love your content. But this build made be grab the laptop and send you some kutos and tell you this this is brilliant! I've been using blender on and off for years. I love the idea of being able to make a animatic and preanimate the shot in blender .... but I didn't know it could generate gcode to actually control the slider. So be thank you for this video. Great work.

I loved your camera slider. However, I miss the scenes of frustration and desperation that you always included in your videos. This is the reason why I subscribe to your channel. Your videos have revealed a sadistic side of me that I didn't know I had. It is truly hilarious to see you getting desperate for having done something stupid that burned up your 3D Printer MOBO. The valleys are the reason why your victories are so much more rewarding. Keep up with your channel. I am loving it!

For the Proper Merch, do a Iron Man 1 movie "Tony Stark, building the Iron suit" montage. Have a acetylene torch, hammering at the forge, light and smoke effects. The set could be in a cave! Add in some dramatic music ... can't forget the dramatic music. The big reveal, holding up your Proper Merch, with a 2001: Space Odyssey dun dun dun dun ending!

Really enjoy the content. What's probably going to happen is you'll get lots of good ideas which will be Blendered into a mini-movie, but it'll end up being too long and you'll have to Klipper it down. When you were inside your Portal Printer I always wanted to see you interacting with it actually printing, or the prints come to life and you guys have to battle them (lots of cool "miniature" creatures out there), but the printer is too fast and you're eventually overwhelmed, until you get the Proper Printing armor merch. Just a thought, whatever you guys do, I'm here for you.

Geweldige video!!

Jón, your channel was awesome before, but you've taken it to a whole new level of creativity and ingenuity. Bravo, sir. You made me want to build that camera system for the pure enjoyment of the process. I think you managed to turn the coolness/utility dial past 11. It would seem you've given the hobbyist a path to making studio-quality, motion-control videos at a fraction of the cost. I wonder, what did you do to fix the focus issue? Careful path planning or an interface option for digital/stepper control?

Merch Idea: Combine green screen and new fancy timelapse system to make it look like your 3d printing yourself wearing merch. You'd need to use the rail system to take photos of yourself in front of the green screen using the same angles/height as the timelapse. Overly Complex Version: Try to chromakey green filament and use it as a green screen. Same basics as first idea, but you can record the print/yourself in the front of the green screen. I like to imagine as your mouth prints you take a huge breath of air saying something like "oh fuck, finally "and then give your merch pitch.

Like: Cleaning the floor, Use as a sail on a raft, diapers for toddlers, face mask for bank robberys, use as umbrella, etc. etc. and on the voice over pitch it as it was meant to be used that way. Awesome video! Love the camera control. I would suggest creating a fully 3D printed 3D printer frame that can be created in as few pieces as possible and is stiff enough for actual use. Then all that would be needed is a hardware kit. It can be small so then bending twisting is kept to a minimum . Cheers, and keep up the great work PS. I would also consider making a version that is monolithic so that it can be printed in one piece on say a CR-10S Pro or something of that size . ....and the "enclosure" can be merch stretched over the frame.

Hey, i have no ideas for the proper printing mersh 😂 but I have one for the slider, if you can read the position of each stepper motor I would create a mode where you save the position of the steppers in function of time and then you manually move the silder the way you want it and when done you stop saving the positions and made the steppers repeat the movement. If I'm not in error some robotic arms use this.
