Using Corrugated Bitumen Sheets to Reroof a Garden Shed

I noticed that my shed roof was in need of attention. There were sections of roofing felt missing, and there are traces of daylight visible inside. It is a standard felt roof, but I view using roofing felt as a difficult job, more suitable for experienced roofers on office blocks or houses. So I used bitumen sheets which made the job a practical DIY activity.
I filmed this over the summer of 2020, primarily as an exercise in videography, to demonstrate my own skills in film making. That's a good job. Thanks for making an honest video showing what went well and what was not so easy. I have the same job to do, but 4 times the area and half as high again. Also, living in the wettest county in England is not an advantage !

I was very lucky with the weather in 2020 when I filmed this - a long hot summer with no rain for weeks. But if you are not having to film as you go along it should go quite quickly. Best of luck!

Thanks for the video. I have a shed that's about 8 feet by 12 feet. the felt blew half off in the wind. I have been looking at the sheeting that you have used. I could work out the finer detail of how to do the job. At present I have a large sheet of tarpaulin on at the moment. Thanks, Ron.

I ordered www.roofingmegastore.co.uk/corrapol-sheet-black.html - these ones are labelled "Fast Delivery" and they came straight from the manufacturer, Clear Amber. I could tell because the packages had "from" fields on the courier labels. You might want to check out roofingmegastore on trustpilot - I didn't but it worked out ok.

Nice vid. @ 01:12 its all clogged up. spray some WD40 on both sides of the saw blade before cutting. It'll help lubricate the blade and stop it from clogging

This autumn it will have been four years since the re-roofing, and it has not deteriorated. Unlike roofing felt it does not need to be bent at right angles to fit over the edge of roofs, so avoiding the places where it is most likely to split, so I think it has a good chance of lasting well.
