Hi AL Many thanks for your comments. With regards to your questions I have been really focusing on the actions of the Asset managers on the Yen. There is still a 7:1 ratio of longs thus I cannot read too much into the weekly change. One thing I have noticed is the overall dealer positions are closing on the November 2011 levels. If we had seen the Yen become really strong then I might be considering looking for trades to the downside on it. However we are not really seeing any technical extremes where the Yen is at the moment. In fact technically we may see the Yen strengthen more against the dollar although be flatter against the likes of the Euro. With regards to the Dollar index, it is difficult to read too much into the positions as they are always so small relative to the other majors. The zero open short positions is due as the net longs are 1177 more than the net shorts. There is no need for them to hold any shorts. Regards Kym

Hi Kingsley, I have been using it for some years now and really prefer to follow the asset manager more for longer term. The hedges may be more fickle which is okay if it fits with the technical's plus of course they may be truly hedging other positions. If they are both aligned it probably adds weight to the direction. Best wshes Kym

Read that in the early part of videos "CONTRACTS OF EUR 125,000), which means every one contract in this data is equivalent to 125,000 EUR. So if they hold 291k positions (contracts) in that data, means those institutional asset manager hold positions equivalent of €36,37 Billion Euros

Hi, you can get the information directly from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission for free www.cftc.gov/MarketReports/CommitmentsofTraders/index.htm It only shows the data for the current week and the changes from the previous week so it is not as usable as the two versions I have shown on the video unless you are going to compile your own charts etc. Regards Kym

HI sorry we do not use this account to load videos any more so I missed your question. You can follow my videos on @thepivottrader I have recently done some analysis on the Euro which might be useful. I would not use the spreadsheets for the data as it is harder to follow. The site I use is www.tradingster.com/cot . The legacy data is in a different format as it has the levered funds and the Asset manager/Institutional combined which is not so useful. If Asset Manager/Institutional (Hedge Fund) and Leveraged Fund (Speculative Mutual Fund) hold so much long positions compared to their short positions then it will be a very high probability for distribution of those long positions into short positions (balancing their portfolios) and causing EURUSD to going down because those Big Player have very big influence to the price movements

I do not personally follow coffee, but I would suggest that you would take notice of the managed money. They do not seem to be much ahead of the price itself, their moves seem to follow the price action. I would really study it to see if it adds much value.

They are a snapshot on the Tuesday close of the previous week. i.e. the figures you would see in the current report are dated 21st July.

Hi Felicity, The link to the site that I use was in the text below the video, but here you go www.tradingster.com/cot There is no limit to an extreme apart from the fact it might never have been at that level before or when it last reached that level last time it had a reaction. The most important thing here is that this only gives us a guide, the trade is taken based on technical analysis. Thus you would wait until you see a reversal signal technically before you would take a trade. It is important to realise that this data is only really a guide and it is not worth getting too over analytical. The dealer has always got to make a market, they are not trading the market. Hedge funds are too complex to try and second guess as they can be using their positions as either a hedge of as a position on its own. I hope that helps. Best wishes Kym

The TFF report divides the financial futures market participants into the “sell side” and “buy side.” This traditional functional division of financial market participants focuses on their respective roles in the broader marketplace, not whether they are buyers or sellers of futures/option contracts. The category called “dealer/intermediary,” for instance, represents sellside participants. Typically, these are dealers and intermediaries that earn commissions on selling financial products, capturing bid/offer spreads and otherwise accommodating clients. The remaining three categories (“asset manager/institutional;” “leveraged funds;” and “other reportables”) represent the buy-side participants. These are essentially clients of the sell-side participants who use the markets to invest, hedge, manage risk, speculate or change the term structure or duration of their assets. Mutual funds come under the Asset manager/institutional category. Best wishes

The COT data is recorded on a Tuesday and reported on the Friday. It often takes until Monday before it is updated on the site I have used.

In theory it is the AUD itself but it is based in US dollars. Generally what we see is that if the AUD futures are being sold it will be weaker against some of it's peers unless they are being sold off even more. An example of this is with the AUD and NZD where the NZD is being sold off even more and hence we are seeing the AUD/NZD rallying at the moment. Best wishes Kym

Sorry for the delay in replying. Tradingster have yet to add it as there is very little data as the BTC futures have only been running since 2018. To a degree yes. Some of the pairings could be weaker than Euro and some stronger but you will get that from my weekly outlook so long as you are considering the major crosses. Cheers

Hi Chris you have to look at where the strength/money is going to compare the cross pairs. The contracts are priced in US dollars but not verses the dollar. The charts shown on the site do show the the dollar pairings though only as a reference. Regards Kym

It is only the general sentiment of the index itself. Individual stocks will outperform or underperform the market so should be judged individually.

They are the market makers. They are on the sell side of the market, where the others are on the buy side.

If you want the actual data itself you can go to the The Commodity Futures Trading Commission site at www.cftc.gov/MarketReports/CommitmentsofTraders/index.htm Alternatively you can view the changes on a year to date basis by scrolling down the tradingster site and just clicking on the YTD buttons.

The data is only released once per week and it really gives us the big picture. It might be that you see an opportunity to go with the big money on a technical basis from the 240 min charts.

It is different on the commodity markets. Here I am looking at the managed money. Producers are normally sellers, that was the originally idea of the market when the future markets started.

The non-reportables are not the biggest in most of the markets. It is also important to understand the type of trader this represents. Hi Jestoni I agree with you. you never make any from what happened, but you can review what is happening and use good technical analysis to choose the right time to enter.

Why would you use the legacy version? It has no real use now that they seperate it.

​@@Ezeetrader Yes sorry, I haven't expressed my self correctly, you showed that the two groups where the important ones, but in reality when you know how to read the COT numbers you know who is in charge of that market and in which precise moment. I can tell you that several markets have Dealers has primary mover of the market. I've spent 15 years on CTO analysis and created a unique file for every market. They you show it here is not exactly how things work. But does not really matter to me, it’s more for you maybe with a little more effort on the numbers more than the curve you’ll have to total vision. Best wishes
